Now, a patent filled by GM has been uncovered. The patent shows a seven speed dual-clutch transmission for front wheel drive vehicles. It's unknown what vehicles the transmission will be put into, but small cars like the Chevrolet Cruze and Buick Verano are contenders. Source: Motor Trend Source: Free Patents Online
March 23, 201114 yr Didn't they also patent 8- and 9-Speed transmissions a while ago? Could be a while before we see them but if Chrysler is using dualclutch and 8 speeds then maybe sooner?
March 23, 201114 yr Author Didn't they also patent 8- and 9-Speed transmissions a while ago? Could be a while before we see them but if Chrysler is using dualclutch and 8 speeds then maybe sooner? If they did, no one has found the patent filing. Chrysler's Eight Speed transmissions are coming from ZF so they will have them sooner than GM. I don't know if their Dual-Clutch are coming from there as well.
March 24, 201114 yr I'm guessing this entire generation of Cruzes and Veranos will pass before it even has a possibility of getting one... not sure why it would be suggested. If they can get it out quick enough, I imagine the XTS will be the first product to get it. Edited March 24, 201114 yr by Paolino
