September 3, 200520 yr Author According to the article it's a serious engineering development. It does not appear to be just for the novelty of it. These have been tried in racing. They have superior traction for cornering and braking.
September 3, 200520 yr They would also have more rolling resistance, moving parts to break, and they are heavier. In engineering the simplest, most cost effective, easiest to package solution is the best.
September 4, 200520 yr Author Thanks Balthazar for the Panther....I completely forgot about that car. The Covini, 6 wheels notwithstanding, is really a very good looking car....it's so hard to adjust one's mind to the front wheels like that, it overshadows the rest of the car which is pretty well done.
