for now for me the tiniest of advantage to the Regal due mainly to its more teutonic interior and overall attitude.

Regal, but only based on Malibu photos. Regal looks more upmarket from a stylistic standpoint, but its trunk isn't great. I don't know how the Malibu interior comes off in-person, nor do I know how the trunk is. We shall see, but for now, slight nod to the Regal.

This is a little premature.

Ask me again once I have been in and drive the 50% of this question I have not yet sampled. To judge a car I have not see in person let alone sat in is not a good Idea.

Yup

It's close, Exterior is close, but the Malibu is more bold and unique. Interior is also close, but the Regal interior isn't awash with too many contrasting colours (two tone seats with a third, contrasting stitching and lighting colour). Design also seems more sorted even though I don't really like the seats in the Regal, not as much thigh support as my Impala even. Malibu has more power in the base model, but the Regal comes with more kit standard no doubt. If money were no object I'd pick the Regal, however narrowly... but the pricing is a factor- if you can get a LTZ Malibu for less than a Regal 2.4 and the LTZ Malibu has a 2.0T with more power, well then.

So in short I like them both.

i haven't been in or drove Brooklyn Decker and Jennifer Lawrence but at least i think its alright to speculate about preferences based on photos............

truth is even a lot of us who frequent these car sites, rarely see more than photos and spec sheets and even when you do see one often its just one passing on the road. product appeal has to be generated that way before anyone even has a chance to get inside.........

and anyways most GM fans are generally accepting of GM's driving manners etc so it's really not 100% premature to ask for a preliminary fave...........there are enough photos now to provide decent enough fodder for comparsion

Never heard of them...porn stars or reality TV stars or something?

Anyway, so if this new Malibu is an MY 2013 and it's only April 2011, it sounds like the 2012 MY is going to be shortened for the Malibu?

Production will begin in early Calendar Year 2012 so the 2012 MY Malibu will probably be truncated and only made through the end of 2011.

I think the odds are good that everyone here will see a Malibu or two. Hell they might even see one parked!

As for the Photo's they really suck and to me give a bad impression unless I use the spy photo's to put them in better perspective. Though the interior looks great and I would love to see it at night with the lighing on. I think most here missed how much special lighting the LTZ has in it.

Too much anymore some of the GM photo's just do not do the cars justice. I see folks here condem GM on the car till they see it in person and then they sing a different tune.

I will be looking to replace my Pontiac G6 in another year or two and I will more than likely get one of these two.

06 pontiac G6 GT

10 Camaro LS

07 Pacifica

production of the 2013 Malibu begins in January 2012 in detroit hamtramck. meanwhile the current model will continue to be produced for a few months after that in Kansas City, so they two models will be built at the same time for a few months. once detroit gets up to full speed the kansas city plant will begin producing the 2013 model.

Judging by the limited pictures I've seen, I like what the new Malibu looks like. Not crazy about the interior nor the lack of a V6. I could say the same for the Regal, although I don't find the exterior all that appealing on this one. So I would lean towards the Malibu.
