Does anybody have connections or know someone that can look up the service history on an '02 Ford Explorer? I just bought this truck and the rear liftgate needs some attention. I have heard a rumor that there may be a relevant recall, but I'm not sure how to find out. I would like to be educated before I go into a dealership. I'm also curious about the maintenance history of the vehicle.

When we bought the Regal as with other used vehicles we've bought, our salesman friend ran the VIN number in his computer and could pull up all warrantied repairs on the vehicle as well as recall campaigns performed. I should assume Ford has a similar system.

Yeah, that's the trick - I was looking for a friend, as opposed to a service writer/rapist.
