May Day! May Day! Pilot Seeing Spots!

Featured Replies

If you can see some cool vehicles through the clouds of pollen, please post them here! Nice weather is (mostly) upon us!

Inferno Orange with black top, 2011 Camaro SS/RS convertible ahead of me in traffic on 76 heading into Philly this morning. Awesome.

Saw a '67 Chevy Impala 2dr ht, pale yellow w/ white vinyl top, in worn but solid condition in traffic whilst driving into Scottsdale this morning...

'69 Buick Electra 225 - Cop Spec at a car cruise.

The car was as stripped down as you could get an Electra. AM radio, no tilt wheel, bench seats with no arm-rest, no A/C,

but it had an A-pillar spot light and red flashing lights behind the grill.

It was too dark to take pics, but if I see it at the cruise again, I'll snap some.

This afternoon:

a bright red '11 Camaro convertible, top up

a red-orange '75-77 Camaro Type LT in solid shape

a black '06 Monte Carlo SS (the only year w/ the V8?)

a black and silver early '00s Monte Carlo Dale Earnhardt Edition

Saw 2 circa '63 F-Series- a nice patina'd green Styleside F-250 and a mint red mason dump.

Saw a clean black 1960 Crown Imperial limo this morning in traffic...sweet. Large, finny, chromey. Fantastic.

Black Rolls Royce Phantom... Large is the proper word to describe it.

Met a Sperm White Volt coming at me in the opposite lane. First one I've seen around here on the road.:)

A nearby auto repair shop had a yellow '74-76 Dodge Dart 2dr ht in their lot and what looked like a green '73 Century or Regal in one of the stalls (just saw the rear end quickly)..

Driving through Philly tonight on Broad St...a black Sunfire, with complete body kit, glowing black and with Knight Rider lights on & flashing accordingly in the hood scoop up front...

I almost crashed just watching it pass by. Wow. Hardcore effort put into making it too...Sunfire and all...and the driver was proud.

Family took mom for a drive and saw several notable autobles.

Black '59 Buick 4-door sedan that I've seen around before

Purple SSR

Blue Astra 3-door

Green/Green '70 Malibu

Gray '58 Oldsmobubble

Yellow and Blue Super Beetles

Blue 'something Impala I forget

First '11 Camaro Convertible, White/Orange

Red Viper SRT-10 ACR

Gray 'something Impala 2-door something I dunno

Pink Mk.I Rabbit Cabriolet

First '12 Focus sedan, red

Red Corvette C6 Grand Sport

Saw some uncommon cars tonight...

A biege denty Gremlin on the side of the freeway

A well-worn white Lincoln Mk VII LSC...I used to really like those cars back in the day

a black Lexus CT200h--first one I've seen on the road. Has the 'string of pearls' led parking lights up front..I thought that was a neat detail when the Audi R8 was the first with them a few years ago, now it just looks tired and played out, IMO

a silver blue Lexus HS. Maybe only the 3rd one I've seen..

and the 'best' for last---

a homebrew late '80s Pontiac Sunbird 'El Camino'--4dr wagon w/ the roof hacked off at the b-pillar w/ a tonneau cover over the 'bed' area..wierd.

A Datsun B210 Honey Bee. I haven't seen one of those in ages.

Some cars from the end of last week & weekend...

This Saab is in the parking lot of my job and I find it very attractive:

IMG_20110504_171442.jpg

A 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Sedan that my step-son saw for sale and wanted to see (owner is asking $4,800 for a car with cloth and 157k):

IMG_20110508_151049.jpg

A car I haven't seen in like forever: a '90s Lumina Z-34 Coupe that was in very good shape (seen @ a Wegman's store lot):

IMG_20110508_153051.jpg

And lastly, on mother's day @ my parents, noticed my parent's neighbor, who happens to own a beautifully restored, fuel injected 283 C.I. V8 engined '57 Chevy Bel Air hardtop coupe, traded in his barely used 2010 Chevy Silverado LT 2WD Extended Cab for this:

IMG_20110508_185420.jpg

Volt! Nice, Roger.

Traveled north to Clinton, NJ early this afternoon in a new TSX sedan to swap it for a new TSX wagon at another dealer.

On the way...

-New black TSX wagon on the road

-Silver '11 F-150 Raptor crew cab at a Ford dealer in/near Flemington, NJ

-New silver '11 Volt at a Chevy dealer also in Flemington

'76-ish Cougar, dried puke green, parked & for sale.

'70 T-bird, dried puke green, parked on 4 flats, looking very forgotten & unloved.

'59 Ford coupe, cream over ice green, gorgeous, stock.

The bad:

On my drive out today, I saw a new Elantra on the road for the first time. I thought, while new, it effectively blended in with the rest of the car-scape much like the Civic.

Not a minute later, I saw a 2011 Jetta. Black can't even make that car exciting to look at.

Two minutes later, I saw a previous-gen Sonata... with a landau top. :nono:

The good:

At least when I got where I was going, I saw a Cobalt SS Supercharged. I think I've only seen 4 total.

Also, on the way back, I saw a BMW 8 Series in red. Definitely a rare sight, especially here in Athens.

For those of you who have seen my post regarding my volunteering as a fire police officer with my local fire dept and the '06 Ford F-350 Super Duty Crew Cab utility truck I get to drive, I spotted the previous truck the dept used to own last night at the local mall:

IMG_20110510_200339.jpg

Even though this truck was still in use when I moved into the town in 2004, I don't think I noticed it much (maybe once or twice, thinking how nice it was to see an older Chevy truck still in use). I defintely noticed the Ford when it was bought, as it was shown off prominently at all community events. There are a couple of older photos at the station showing all of the older fleet (station opened in '78, and a '50s/'60s Mack B-Model pumper was once of the first trucks in service), including this Chevy Cheyenne crew cab (3+3) in better days.

Some real variety today..

Very sharp dark red '57 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr ht.

Silver blue Nissan March. Bubby 4dr, smaller than the Versa

Bright red w/ black nose stripe '67 Camaro RS/SS convertible

Gold '00-02 Rolls-Royce Corniche converible..thought it was a Bentley Azure at first

Red and white Corvair pickup

White '62 Ford Falcon 2dr sedan

Saw a gold '2011' Excursion today....i.e. an Excursion updated w/ the latest front clip.

Sure it wasn't just a cap on the back of a new Super Duty?

Nope...by the way, there is a company that retrofits used Excursions w/ the new front end and interior parts, etc...

J/k with you! I'm sure there are people out there that still want a "new" Ford Excursion.

2012 gray Ford Focus sedan with the front end and right side destroyed in an accident, at a tow yard.

Local dealer has 4 new Chrysler 300s, in different trims, all very nice. Also a red 200 S sedan, which looks very good with the giant rims and blacked out trim.

New silver 2012 Ford Focus hatch cruising up my street, not bad.

New navy blue 2011 Chrysler 300 base V6 model with temp tags on the highway, in traffic. Elegant, clearly a 300 but refined.

A '98-'99 Ford Ranger with a Ford hybrid logo on the tailgate :confused0071:

Interesting...there was also an electric Ranger from that time frame, there is a white one in Scottsdale I've seen a few times...saw it this morning in traffic..very quiet.

Electric Ranger

I've seen an reddish-orange '70 Cougar XR-7 convertible in good shape two mornings in a row..

A Kia Forte 5-door hatch. I didn't even know they made one, let alone sold it in the US.

Don't think I've seen one..but IIRC it was a 2011 addition..

Base model '05/06 dirty black CTS with the standard smaller silver wheels...and factory style "V" badges. Cruising slowly. Too slowly.

clearly a 300 but refined.

Better looking IRL than in pictures?

White '12 Focus hatch. 10 minutes later, a yellow '12 Focus hatch in cross traffic while I waited for the light, followed 4 cars later by a dark blue '12 Focus sedan. My eyes were going blurry.

Went down a street w/ a bunch of small used car lots and body shops, saw a black late '40s Lincoln Continental 2dr for sale, and a pale blue '59 Ford Galaxie 2dr ht.

Saw a rather obscure '80s car today---a faded silver 5dr Chevy Nova...the one based on the Toyota Corolla, built by NUMMMI. Hadn't seen one of those in many years..

Saw a black '57 Chevy Bel Air 2dr sedan today, 3rd time I've seen it in traffic over the last week...minty condition w/ steelies and dds.

Yesterday, a Volt at Target. Today, a hybrid Yukon and a hybrid Silverado that was lowered and with ginormous chrome wheels.

Nothing special this morning, but saw my WTF? moment of the week...sitting at a busy intersection of two 6 lane streets...light goes green on the cross street, and some dbag smokes/spins his tires all the way across the intersection....in a Nissan Titan.

New silver Camaro SS convertible top down pulling onto highway, followed by red Camaro SS convertible right behind...paired up, on Sunday afternoon. I see more convertibles now around Philly than I expected, so quickly.

There's a car here in Zinkgruvan (Sweden) that looks to be a 1959 Pontiac Bonneville. Also, one of the mine workers parked a 1957 Chevrolet next to the canteen 2 days ago. Lots of love towards 1950's and 1960's American Iron here in Central Sweden! :)
