June 2, 201114 yr Nice video. Gives me a leg up in headlight/taillight/silhouette identification. Anybody know if CHP is getting these too?
June 2, 201114 yr CHP put in an order for a bunch of Crown Vics while they could. They use a few Chargers for pursuit vehicles, but they don't provide enough space for gear to use as regular patrol vehicles. Don't expect them to get Caprices anytime soon because of budget issues.
June 2, 201114 yr I'm looking forward to seeing one in person...still surprised how much the rear end looks like the Impala.

June 2, 201114 yr They should offer a Police package Ute with a machine gun mount right behind the passenger compartment Edited June 2, 201114 yr by ZL-1
June 2, 201114 yr They should offer a Police package Ute with a machine gun mount right behind the passenger compartment That would sell well in Libya. The electronics in the car may be more expensive than the car itself.
June 4, 201114 yr Author Here's a couple of 9C3 images. The company that outfitted the black one do turn key packages, starting at USD$29000 for a basic 9C3 all the way to USD$45000 for a full loaded marked 9C1! Apparently all 9C3 models get dual tailpipes while the 9C1 get the normal quad tailpipes, all use the same V8 with the same power rating.
June 4, 201114 yr Now see? I could totally drive that black one. I could too...I'd keep the spotlight and ditch the alloys (or are those plastic wheelcovers) and get a set of black steel wheels. Edited June 4, 201114 yr by Cubical-aka-Moltar
June 8, 201114 yr That Caprice is the new mack daddy of patrol vehicles. I remember when the new-for-'91 Caprice went into police service. The chintzy plastic wheel covers (same as the base model civilian version) would not stay on the rim at high speeds, necessitating a return to the circa 1990-style stainless pie plates, and even small center caps on the steelies. At least this new one appears to have bolted-on plastic covers. Edited June 8, 201114 yr by ocnblu
