June 9, 201114 yr To get a third brake light for the tahoe (don't ask). Was pleasantly surprised to find tons of good stuff for both the Tahoe and the Mothertruck. I'll be going back when it isn't so hot. Edited June 9, 201114 yr by Camino LS6
June 9, 201114 yr You're an adventurous soul to hit the JY on such a hot day. Being in the pine barrens, my local JY is brutal in the average heat... the sand is 2 feet deep in spots and I swear they laid out the place to maximize walking. Its like slogging through the Sahara... but with slightly more humidity... it just drains you in no time. I can't imagine being their today.
June 10, 201114 yr Author I'll look, DF. Samadei: Yeah, it was brutal. But it was only a few screws and one connector to get the job done - I was still sweat-soaked when I finished. I wanted that errand off of my list in a bad way, so I braved the heat.
June 10, 201114 yr Well if you can even find an R/T, if needs to be 2000 or 2001 (2000 preferred), and not have the Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM). If it has keys with it, gray keys mean it has SKIM, black keys mean it doesn't. It'd also probably have cloth seats and not have automatic headlights. It's pretty uncommon, but I figure it can't hurt to keep an eye out. Might get lucky.
June 10, 201114 yr Depends on the yard, but around $50 seems to be the going rate. It's a gray box located on the driver's side in front of the strut tower right under the Power Distribution Center.
June 10, 201114 yr Thanks! It's something I really want, if I can just find one. We probably could use a thread for stuff people are looking for in JYs... something that can be easily printed to take with us on a JY trip.

We probably could use a thread for stuff people are looking for in JYs... something that can be easily printed to take with us on a JY trip. Good idea. I'm always in need of something but the 'yards in my area are money hungry and like to charge you new prices for used parts.
June 10, 201114 yr We should likely add something to the JY wish list thread is that it is important that wishlists have a finite life or get updated, so that IF someone purchases an item for a reputable fellow member, they don't get stuck with it. Granted, anything purchased at a JY can be resold on eBay, likely at a profit, so one is rarely actually "stuck" with any item. Perhaps last post supersedes others.. I don't know the best way to work this out. I would suggest wishlists have a maximum price willing to pay and a description of acceptable condition.
June 10, 201114 yr A budget is a good idea, but at the same time its as easy as asking the yard what they want for the part and letting the buyer know. If the buyer is ok with the price, then get the part, take photos of it, and then have the buyer send payment to the seller before shipping out said item.

If the buyer is ok with the price, then get the part, take photos of it, and then have the buyer send payment to the seller before shipping out said item. My JY has a very fast turn around... a car is only there a short time before its stripped of anything worthwhile and gone. If its there, I have to act then. If I wait, report back and get the OK to pull it, it will be gone. The whole idea being that these are hard to find items on this list... and should be grabbed on a 'buy first, ask questions later' basis. Sure, the requester may end up with a duplicate, but in this case, having a spare is not a bad thing.
