Official: V8 Supercar Series coming to Austin in 2013

It's official – Australia's V8 Supercars series is set to bash fenders in Austin, Texas in 2013. The news comes hard on the heels of the Austin city council approving the United States Grand Prix Formula One race at the Circuit of the Americas.

This is so exciting! This series is what NASCAR should be!

Yes!!

Cool!

Maybe it will get more grassroots support for Ford and GM to import some real cars.

NASCAR might be more popular than ever, but a lot of people lost heart in the cars when the cars become unrecognizably non-stock in the late '80s.

Note: I know that early '80s NASCAR cars shared little with their stock counterparts... but at least the basics were there... door configuration, drivetrain configuration, engine type, different body appearances.

NASCAR is launching an NA DTM-style series also in 2013 also...nice to see more road racing in the NA..

I've seen it in couple of places...Racer magazine was one, I think.

Edit: googling turned up many results, all from last October..
