Interesting that the Gallardo got the jump both times, but after that the Z06 pretty much owned it.

wow the z06 really kicked ass once it really got going....if the gallardo hadn't got a jump both times i think the z06 would have owned it all of the way

The gallardo is no slouch...it has a bit more hp than the Z06 but about 100 lbs less torque. From a roll, weight doesn't play as much of a factor. From a dig, due to the gallardo's awd I could see it getting a quick jump on a Z06. But the jump it got on those runs are probably due to gearing most likely...The gallardo was in a pretty high rpm range when it started. I don't know how fast they were going when they started, but I'll assume it was around 60-70 mph, so a 2nd gear roll for both cars with the gallardo being in it's peak power range due to the gearing and the vette's rpms being somewhat lower in comparison...then again, the LS7 has a pretty flat torque curve...I dunno...I'd have to see dyno sheets to really determine this.

Well, I remember them saying 0-60 in first gear (albeit a little past redline) for the Z06, so I'd say the Gallardo had a much higher RPM start. Notice the Z06 switch gears and cream the Gallardo thereafter? Hell yeah!

That's an AWESOME video!

I actually spanked a new Porsche 911 the other day pretty easily in my C6 convertible 6-speed.

It was from rolling start....

911s are fast no doubt....but they post those good C&D acceleration numbers based primarily on their superior launch due to the rear-engine, RWD traction.

Catch one from a rolling start, and the Corvette's torque just destroys it. Now, the 911 would probably put up a good fight if we were continuing on to say 100mph and over....but this was around town from like 5mph up to 70 until I backed off....(speed limit was 55mph.)

I wouldn't want to try to drag one from a "prepared" stoplight grand prix. If the 911 driver knew how to really drive, he could get a GREAT "hole shot" and I'd have to really hope that I launched the C6 JUST right to avoid too much wheelspin....

man - that was sweet. And the Z06 driver still has what? $100,000 for gas over what the Lambo driver paid? And let's not even bring up the costs of ownership on either car...the Z06 needs an oil change and a few odds and ends...$100 bucks a visit. Try that with the Lambo...ouch. Then to get OWNED by a car made by Chevrolet...ha ha ha ha :pbjtime:

Yea, but, at the end of the day, it's still a Lambo... :AH-HA_wink:
