July 23, 201114 yr So I sold my black corvette this week, I decided I wanted a new Grand Sport Corvette. I know that I want it to be a Grand Sport with manual transmission and dual-mode exhasut, I'm open to most colors with the exception of yellow, and my wife ruled out white. I found one at a local dealership that has everything I want at a good price, but the color is inferno orange metallic. I guess I'm neutral to the color - what do you guys think? http://www.mikeandersonchevy.net/VehicleDetails/new-2011-Chevrolet-Corvette-Coupe_Grand_Sport_2LT-Merrillville-IN/1136196743
July 23, 201114 yr I'm slightly positive on it (don't care for the chrome wheels, though), but my main concern would be how much interest there would be when it's time to sell it.
July 23, 201114 yr I think the Corvette looks best in black or red, then silver. Personally I prefer black cars in general, so I would say go with black again. White is too plain, but the Corvette looks good in blue too. The Corvette is sort of like Ferrari in that you almost have to get black or red, it was made for those colors. Just like the Toyota Camry was made for that champagne beige color.
July 23, 201114 yr I think the Inferno looks great. The local dealership here has one and it looks really nice out in the sun. I'm actually going to head out in that area to go shopping in a little while, if you want me to take some pictures of it in the daylight. I'm sure you could find pictures on a Corvette forum also. My point is that I think the color looks way better in daylight than inside the showroom. What other colors are available in your area? Did you search online? You should be able to get a killer deal on a 2011, check www.kerbeck.com, they have Corvette Grand Sports for $11.3k+ off MSRP. No reason you can't get a similar deal elsewhere.
July 23, 201114 yr Here are some good pictures of it in the sunlight: http://www.corvetteconti.com/blog/?p=11942
July 23, 201114 yr I really like the orange, but I think it would look even better with gunmetal wheels. Are the gunmetal ones available on the GS?

You are correct, there are some deals out there. Rick Conti has a Grand Sport in supersonic blue that I am little more excited about. http://www.ganleyaurora.com/new-inventory/1G1YR2DW3B5101339 There is also a cyber gray Grand Sport in New Hampsire. http://www.macmulkin.net/VehicleDetails/new-2011-Chevrolet-Corvette-Coupe_Grand_Sport_2LT-Nashua-NH/828514373 I'm not opposed to having the car shipped to me in Chicago, I've done it before. I'm more concerned about the mechanical options than the color, just not sure about this inferno orange. I will say that it looks a whole lot better in those daylight pictures that were posted.
July 23, 201114 yr Author I really like the orange, but I think it would look even better with gunmetal wheels. Are the gunmetal ones available on the GS? Yeah, I dig the gunmetal a little more than the chrome too. I can always get some gunmetal later - not a deal killer.
July 23, 201114 yr I like both of the other choices much better than the orange. While very much a color of the times, Inferno is just a bit too orange for me.
July 23, 201114 yr The Supersonic Blues with the two-tone interior on that Cyber Grey car would be a fine combo.
July 23, 201114 yr I don't know, since the advent of the darker wheels/headlights, I prefer my Corvettes that way. They look meaner, and that's how a Corvette should look, imo. That blue with dark wheels and headlights would look smashing, imo.
July 24, 201114 yr Author Found this black 2010, I'm not sure about the red GS stripes though. If the dealer is willing to make a deal, might go try this. http://www.billjacobsjoliet.com/vehicle-details/2010-chevrolet-corvette-grandsport-joliet-il-id-837182
July 24, 201114 yr ^^^ I like that black. Good luck with your search. 14/20 mpg???? Try Stingray Chevrolet - supposedly the second biggest Corvette dealer.
July 24, 201114 yr Author ^^^ I like that black. Good luck with your search. 14/20 mpg???? Try Stingray Chevrolet - supposedly the second biggest Corvette dealer. It should be 16/26, those are zr1 numbers. You'd be amazed all the wrong info you find on these advertisements. Cars listed as automatics, with pictures that show a manual trans, stuff like that.
July 24, 201114 yr I LOVE the orange; it's actually one of my favorite Corvette colors... And I guess I'm in the minority here, but I also love the chrome wheels. The Grand Sport wheels are one of the few GM wheel designs that I wouldn't swap out for aftermarket units. That said; I do think the Grand Sport looks best in the red with silver GS stripes or Black with silver GS stripes.

Yes there is a lot of sloppy work that goes in advertising cars.
July 24, 201114 yr On second thought; If I did the orange, I'd do one of two things.... I'd option it with white or silver fender stripes and chrome wheels -OR- I'd option it with graphite gray fender stripes (not sure of the official name) and gray wheels. If those options are available. I can't get the horrible Chevrolet site to work well, so... Edit: BINGO: Orange with gray wheels and stripes: http://www.corvetteconti.com/blog/?p=9599 Not as impressive as I thought it would be, but it'd be cool to see in person and consider. I'd also option a Cyber Gray car with graphite wheels and silver stripes. http://www.easyautosales.com/used-car-photos/2011-Chevrolet-Corvette-Z16-Grand-Sport-w/3LT-33671997.html I've probably been no help at all, LOL Here's a thread with tons of pics if you want to browse: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-general-discussion/2510109-grand-sport-picture-thread.html Edited July 24, 201114 yr by FUTURE_OF_GM
July 24, 201114 yr Author I think I need to get off the black kick and try a new color. That being said, it's down to an inferno orange: I agree it looks better with the dark headlights and gunmetal wheels, but that combination isn't for sale anywhere. I wonder how much it would cost to buy dark headlight assemblies, probably $$$$. or cyber grey: I'm leaning towards cyber grey right now. I will probably get the one in New Hampshire, it has all the options I want, good price, and will be easier to pull off the look I want. FUTURE OF GM: This does look awesome, I'm looking for a deal, so I'm stuck with existing inventory.
July 24, 201114 yr I don't care much for the stripes or headlights on the orange one. Don't think that color really goes with orange. I'd go with the cyber gray. Less chance you will get tired of the color, amd it looks awesome with gunmetal wheels. I don;t know that there's a whole lot you can do with orange in terms of customization that doesn't look tacky.
July 24, 201114 yr The black one with the red GS stripes looks the best. that's my favorite automotive color combo. but I still think they should be painted blue/white center stripe/red hashmarks, driver's side only.
July 24, 201114 yr That black one is actually pretty sweet, with the red interior. I'd go with that or Cyber Gray. That dealer would need to come way down from what they've already come down to though, considering you can get a 2011 for the same price. Can you take the little fender stripes off if you get tired of them, or is that actually painted on?
July 25, 201114 yr Author The stripes are vinyl sticker type I believe. They're definitely not painted. I've always liked black, my last three toys have been black - I need to try a different color.
July 25, 201114 yr Cyber Gray for sure, not feeling the orange, but then again I'm not a fan of wild colors to begin with. Black, gray, and dark blue is what I normally gravitate to.
July 25, 201114 yr I still really like that blue - it makes the Grand Sport badges and the wheels really pop.
July 25, 201114 yr Not feeling that orange, and I am never a fan of grey/silver. My first choice on a 'vette would be either blue or yellow.
