Yeah, it probably is.

Far more rare than an LS6 Chevelle, nut,bolt, and chalkmark level restoration with history and GM of Canada documentation.

Only thing I don't like is the color.

And the fact that I don't have the money.

In the early 80s, one this good went for 40k.

Something tells me I'll never get to own one now.

Could probably build a nice replica for much less. Find a clean used '70 Elco, get a Year One catalog, and a GM crate motor..

I assume a '71 GMC Sprint SP could go for as much money..saw a goregous silver one of those at a car show in Colorado back in summer of '00. Beautiful machine.

That is a very nice looking vehicle.

You can blame the B-J auctions for the pricing. An LS6 Chevelle in the same condition with documentation could esily bring twice the amount he's asking for the Camino.

Weird part is that the Camino is far more rare.

A Sprint SP would not even approach the price of the Camino - even though it is rarer still. In part, that's because GM never put an LS6 in the Sprint, but the fact that even today the Sprint is largely unknown is the main factor.

As for replicas, "tributes", and clones, that just isn't my thing.

I'd rather have a real SS with an LS5, a 402, or a 396, than a fake LS6.

The good news is that most of that price is based on the condition and the documentation - even a slight downgrade in either will drop the price dramatically.

While I can see the appeal of a genuine article, I personally wouldn't bother me to own a "fake" that's just as real as the original it emulates...for a hell of a lot less.

I can understand that motivation - but it doesn't work for me.

Camino is quite right on the price of Chevelle SS LS6 cars- I've seen them comfortably over $200K. I have learned not to doubt the values of classic Chevys- they're always higher than I think they should be, but people spend the money for them.

There is nothing hotter in the classic car market than iconic musclecars.

Only thing I don't like is the color.

I rather like this color... almost always see El Camino SSes in black with white stripes, so I find it refreshing to see the colors reversed with the black vinyl top.

Still, if I had it, this is the one car I would spend that kind of money on. It's my automotive Holy Grail.

I would however, be very happy with a much less "perfect" example than this one - because I'd drive it!

I would love to own a nice clean '70 Chevrolet ANYTHING.... but I'd be quite happy with a 350 or even a 307 under the hood.

For $125K I would be rockin' a coach-built car that was made before Hitler attempted world domination.
