SEPTEMBER 2011 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD

Featured Replies

I inspected 2 sonics on a couple different lots today.

an inferno orange hatch and a white sedan.

the hatch is definitely a looker. with apologies to some.......the sonic hatch makes the melted fiesta look like a bit of a turd ............(JMO)

the sedan in appliance white with small wheels did not look quite as cool....but next to the cobalt it was parked by it looked really good and fresh and new. i took some pics i will see if i can get a couple posted.

the trunk lid for some reason was open on the sedan so i looked inside. the trunk finishing is definitely close to third world status. hyundai finishes their trunks like a luxury piece in comparison. at least we know where GM spent the money on the car.

Through the glass though, the interior looks awesome for what it is, the design is awesome and interesting. The detailing is cool. I love the efficient packaging. You can tell its cheap plastic but they went out of their way to put textures and finishes on it that play well in the overall design.

There is no confusing the cruze and sonic, the cruze is far more mature and substantial and the sonic does indeed look the part of a less expensive subcompact. but of all the subcompact crapboxes out there its probably the most desirable based on looks.

I wonder if the LTZ turbo Sonic will outdo that SX4 sportback I have been eyeballing..........

I have a feeling though the Kia Soul with its upgrades will be tough competition since its about the same price across the board.

The Sonic actually is so blocky in shape it almost looks like a lowered SUV passing by....

The Citation reminds me..I saw a few days ago a minty early '80s X-body Skylark 2dr. Silver w/ dark red vinyl top, dark red interior.

did also see a new Accent the other day when i was Veloster hunting and the Sonic is far more stylish in comparison.

Those were a decently sized small car, wish GM had gotten more of the details right with those!

At the gas station this morning saw a sharp black '80s El Camino w/ an '87 Monte Carlo LS front end (composite headlight style). Black rear bumper, 17 inch or so chrome wheels.

Attended the monthly county fire police association meeting last night, held at a different fire station each month. Presidential Lakes Fire Dept in Pemberton, NJ was the location of last night's meeting and the chief there mentioned the old Dodge fire truck in the garage (in which you had to go around it to get to the bathrooms). Don't know the year, but snapped this picture:

Definitely a "work-in-progress", but judging from the dust on the hood it hasn't been touched in a long time.

The wall going to the bathrooms had pictures of past trucks in service, one was a '58 Dodge Power Wagon, among some other cool antiques long gone.

Cool old fire truck!

Immaculate and all stock candy red with tan newest of the last gen Acura Legend LS coupe in our service department, hanging around a few days for an extended service of some sort. Legend says it all, and for Philadelphia, amazing to see a stock and immaculate example as so.

Nice..I've always liked both generations Legend coupes..good looking cars. My sister used have a 1st gen ('91), was a nice driving car..so easy to see out of, lots of glass.

In less than 10 minutes driving from Target to home yesterday afternoon, I saw 14 Prii in a variety of colors. Then went out to dinner last night, saw 5 more.

Moltie, have you spotted a Silver Ghost? A Dodge Demon?

Not yet this month.

Roger- I believe that Dodge fire truck is a '35, some of the details in your pic are a bit hard to make out.

Lifted the tarps on a gold '63 Corvette convertible (327/4-spd) that has been sitting since about 1969.

HERE ya go guys. It's October now.

A Cavalier "Type-R"

With the nifty GM factory wing...be still my heart...you didn't get a photo of this rare beast, did you?

And don't tell me it was an autotrajic....

Wow...I need to get pics...we have a 63 split around here that has been sitting in a driveway since the 70's...

We are a little clueless...or scared off by your Christmas/winter's coming thread, one of the two.

I saw a bunch of El Camino's sitting in someone's yard in a BAD part of town. A bunch of angry guys with various racial origins, a display of open weapons, and several dogs with the size and temperament of Arkus pretty much convinced me I didn't want to stop and get any photographs for Camino.
