When we last heard about Daimler and Aston Martin going into talks, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said talks have taken place and were close to a decision.

Reports coming from Germany this week says the talks between the two has broken down. The reason is reportedly due to Aston Martin asking for more money than Diamler was willing to hand over.

The proposal that was under negotiation was to have Aston Martin work on the next generation of Maybach vehicles. In return, Daimler would give Aston Martin platforms and engines from Mercedes-Benz.

Reports say Daimler could work on Maybach in house, making it a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz.

Good for Aston Martin. We all know how well partnering up with Daimler worked for Chrysler.
