Two men were arrested Sunday who police say dialed a wrong number and tried buy marijuana from an officer.

At 11:33 p.m. Sunday, a uniformed officer got a call to his squad cellphone from an unknown caller. The caller asked the officer if he could buy a pound of marijuana, Sgt. Marty Sayre said.

The officer received multiple phone calls from the suspect in an attempt to meet for the sale. The officer arranged to meet with the suspect in the 1100 block of 15th Avenue South.

Officers went on foot to the location. When the suspects saw the officer, they ran but were quickly arrested, Sayre said.

Kewon Donte Johnson, 21, of St. Cloud and Steven Ray Hendricks Jr., 27, of Shoreview were arrested.

During the investigation one of the suspects tried to get rid of items he had, Sayre said. Police said they recovered $3,060 in counterfeit $20 bills and a small amount of marijuana.

Johnson and Hendricks were taken to Stearns County Jail. They face possible charges of felony possession of counterfeit currency.

It could have been worse. They could have tried using the counterfeit bills with a real dealer and gotten shot.

So very true, the Cops probably saved their lives.

How bout cops who bum drugs off people they arrest and then don't get punished for it? And then get rewarded for planting the same drugs on others?

So... they called multiple times, and didn't get the hint? They deserve to be arrested for sheer idiocy.

I can't wait until they finally stop throwing people in jail over weed. It's a waste of time. Unless they were doing something that was putting other people at risk, such as operating a vehicle while stoned, I don't see the problem with it at all.
