Suzuki wants the alliance to end while Volkswagen has gone on record saying that it would be open to continuing the alliance. Now, Volkswagen is looking end this situation, regardless if the alliance survives or not. German magazine Wirtschaftswoche reports that VW CEO Martin Winterkorn states that the company will seek a resolution for the conflict, even ending the alliance by the end of the year. Sources tell Wirtschaftswoche that a large part in the deterioration of the alliance is due interpersonal issues, mostly caused by Suzuki Vice President Yasuhito Harayama. November 2, 201114 yr Good, VW needs to cut loose of the dead weight of Suzuki if it is going to thrive! or Vice-versa. This is more like Daimler destroying Chrysler. At least Suzuki wised up before VW had a chance to take all the pieces it wanted while giving nothing in return.

Suzuki is VW's key to the JDM. I would be really surprised if VW wanted a big piece of the JDM, actually. They already sell an assload of cars in China...why do they need Japan?
