GM's European division has been hard at work developing their competitor to the Ford Focus ST and Mazdaspeed3 and some new spy shots have come out.

The camouflaged Opel Astra GTC in the pictures is the new OPC/VXR model due out sometime next year. Not much has changed since we last saw pictures of this; a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder developing around 300 HP, six speed manual, and GM's HyperStut suspension to help counter understeer are expected.

The question now is will the US get a taste of this as a Buick? The speculation is being fueled by Astra GTCs running around Detroit and documents from the recent UAW and GM negotiations revealing a unnamed new compact car to be built in the U.S. and sold as a Buick.

it seems not like a buick we're used to....

reskin it

and call it the (new small car's name, can't think of it) ,GS (stage #) could be right..?

Would make a great Chevy Monza. Since Chevy has no compact 2dr/3dr, this could work...

Its going to come here as the CAFE-inspired C7 Corvette.

Verano GS you mena

ah, there we go. looked around google for "verano". Excelle GT in china.... make it GS.... maybe. it's not a great name for a hot hatch based opel, but i've never named a car before. lol
