December 7, 201114 yr The P-64 is a real cherry. Was just daydreaming again today about picking up a '64 Safari for a work 'truck'... still waitin for that ship to come in so I can pull the trigger... on ANYTHING. Edited December 7, 201114 yr by balthazar
December 7, 201114 yr You pegged me good for the full sized Poncho. Having been to the trans am nationals many times I'm a sucker for 8 lugged cars and those 2+2's http://www.mershons.com/ is where I drool I cant get over the price of their Vairs but really they're a great bargain
December 8, 201114 yr There are NOT many of this gen Safari left. Oh, to win the lottery (and to play the lottery) and hand off a solid survivor and a fat check & list, only to pick up a completely gone-over / lite resto machine ready to roll.
December 8, 201114 yr Author Mershons is actually where my 71 Chevelle came from...and we used it as a regular car some times, just like Balthy wants to use that 64.
December 8, 201114 yr This wagon would be an excellent base for a period resto-mod. Has just what I want: no 9-pass jump seat, has factory air, PS & PW, and is the longer WB Bonne. Plus the black/red color combo is a classy perk. Perhaps I can 'protest' someone with an S-class to fund the resto for me by camping out at the foot of his driveway.
December 8, 201114 yr Author Your a very bad man, Balthazar...I love that car and could afford it right now...lucky it's not running or a might be making a road trip to the American southwest and driving it home with my 18 year old son.
December 8, 201114 yr That AZ heat was brutal on this car the interior is ruff cleaned up with a parts car locally could work out. The mechanicals would be quite in need also probably more than I'd spend.
December 9, 201114 yr Author I'd rather have Arizona heat than Ohio Rust....In Ohio that thing would have rusted into terra firma by now....
December 9, 201114 yr Don't know bout that in Dayton I see a high percentage of clean rods & survivors. Cars are big still here even see daily drivers all the time
December 9, 201114 yr Author I see cars around here, although not as many as I used to. Agree...Dayton seems to have more cool older cars on the roads. This seems to be SUV and Honda country, sadly.
December 9, 201114 yr The car stock has been older here for years and with the economy and Cash 4 Clunkers it's starting to seem more & more like "lilcuba" than "Little Detroit"
December 9, 201114 yr Author C4C took a lot of older iron off of the road...around here some of the Hyundai dealers took in 150 plus cars....
December 10, 201114 yr Saw a decent Catalina wagon at a reasonable price on CL - about a '65 or'66, IIRC. Quite cool.
