December 7, 201114 yr With Detroit only a month away, news has began to come/leak out of what will be premiering. Late last week, GM’s senior vice president of global product development, Mary Barra told the Automotive Press Association in Detroit the new ATS would make it's debut at Detroit. But that's not all, Chevrolet will be showing a production version of the Sonic RS and two concept vehicles from their GM North Hollywood Design Center. Buick will have the brand new Encore, a small crossover based on GM’s front-wheel-drive Gamma II platform there as well. Source: Automobile Magazine, Left Lane News View full article
December 8, 201114 yr I'm still saying that a full-size pickup will be previewed, either in "concept" or "pre-production" form. But then again I can be wrong
December 8, 201114 yr Interesting...no Corvette...maybe they are saving it for New York? As for GMC, don't they usually show off trucks at the Chicago show?
December 8, 201114 yr Interesting...no Corvette...maybe they are saving it for New York? As for GMC, don't they usually show off trucks at the Chicago show? We won't be seeing the Corvette until NAIAS 2013 IIRC. Kinda disappointed we're not at least seeing a preview of the Impala as it's really dumb they've already made us wait seven years.

December 8, 201114 yr Yes it is too soon for the Vette and Impala yet. GM is not showing that far ahead anymore. I expect the Vette, Impala and the RWD V8 sport sedan to show up in about 12-18 months. As for GMC I am sure they will have something with the full size truck or SUV. We should be seeing something on a new Granite too. Keep in mind GM does not alway tell us everyting in Detroit at one time.
December 8, 201114 yr Could be an Epsilon 2 Impala concept. GM loves economies of scale and the W-body doesn't give them that any more. More likely will be some lame city car concept with an electric motor and 52 horsepower. Those are popular on the auto show circuit recently. ATS is what I am looking forward to the most. The Encore is a vehicle they need, GM needs a small girly crossover because they lose sales to competitors in that segment.

Or maybe a production version of the Caddy city car concept from last year based on the Spark.
December 8, 201114 yr Maybe a competitor for the Smart-for-us pick up truck. An El Camino based on the new Malibu. Or a mini El Camino based on the Spark.
December 8, 201114 yr The Spark is an abomination. I'd prefer it if the Spark wasn't based on the Spark.
December 8, 201114 yr Sonic RS, ATS, and Encore are definites. I'd say, for the others, pick two from "Impala concept","truck concept", and "Corvette concept". The wording in the OP suggests that they'll both be Chevies.
December 8, 201114 yr Just reveal the Cadillac ATS already! We didn't even get an ATS concept car. The ATS better be perfect in every way. If it has anything questionable about its styling or only comes with a stick shift at launch or anything else dumb like that, I'm not going to wait any longer. I will move on to another brand.

December 8, 201114 yr Not always... the GMC Sierra HD All Terrain concept truck debuted in Detroit this year... and I want to say that the Texas Fair in 2006 was when the new-for-2007 pickups were shown. I remember the 2003 refresh of the Sierra/Silverado as the last Chicago debuts (I could be wrong though).
December 8, 201114 yr A production based concpet truck could be shown but we would not see the production till later at the Texas fair. Texas is normally for production vehicle intro's. Chicago used to be Pontiac and a GMC show but I think that has changed. Most of the major intro's are Detroits now with smaller intro's going to NY and new model intro's to LA. Most MFG's are cutting back on shows and will combine most of the intro's to the biggest and most important show in Detroit.
