They are spitting in the face of Cadillac's PROUD history. They should have their franchise ripped away for this stunt.

they could have used a 90's model. one that was already junk, with no engine, no longer roadworthy, etc...just polish it up and drop it.

The PR firm responsible for this sent an explanation to the Hemmings Blog. Still seems like a dumb idea...

UPDATE (6.December 2011): The folks from Hudson Creative, the PR agency, got in touch to offer a few additional details.

When it was found, the car’s interior was already gutted and it was extremely rusted. Our passion is cars – if it could have been restored, it would have been. Instead, we cleaned up the body and are using the motor and engine to restore another vintage Cadillac.

Also, Frank Kent plans to immortalize the symbolic Cadillac as artwork for years to come. At the grand opening, it will be buried nose-first into the ground, paying homage to Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo Texas.

I always thought Cadillac Ranch was an affront to Cadillac history, sort of a "greenies' revenge" sort of thing against Cadillac and what they stand for.

Please, I've seen far worse restored.

Burying it nose first in the sand is immortalizing? If you wanted to do that you should have restored it and had it displayed in teh showroom or outside for people to see.

They should just revoke the dealer license, round up all parties involved, and lop their balls off. Problem solved.

That car is WAYYYY to solid to bury in the sand and forget about....

Restore the car & display it permanently, THAT'D be a tribute to your livelihood. Not this.

Everyone who walks up to the dealer and sees a half-buried classic is going to think they're uncaring, clueless idiots.

No way in hell would I order a license plate screw from that dealer, by phone, if it was the only one with that screw in the state & I had to drive to pick it up.
