Car was running and driving until I took motor apart to rebuild. Original motor was determined to be too costly to rebuild ...so I purchased a "complete" strong running Pontiac 389 motor (303 Horsepower) and 4-speed automatic trans from a 1964 Bonneville for $800.00 ...just have not installed it. Great project ...Nice frame, floors and trunk floor. Body is good except the rocker panels. but I will include a NOS set of rocker panels with the car. Package Deal ......Both the car and motor for $2900 Will seperate also ...Motor: $800.00 Firm ...Car: $2500 Neg. Interested in trades also ....( Older GM cars, 4cyl stick 1997-2001 Chevy S-10, some diesel VW's and some other cars too.(you never know?) ...No more projects though. December 21, 201114 yr 303 HP motor is 10.5 CR, gonna need octane booster in every tank unless you're a featherfoot. You are also going to need a hand sledge (and a different trans crossmember) to get that SHM under the floorpan of the Cat; hopefully the RHM is still serviceable (they're pretty cool once you get used to them). Might be a good time to ponder a 700R4. 2369 4-dr sedan- still neat with the batwing flying roofline (which the hardtop didn't have), but I could not take that green color. Talked down to $2K (and rebuild the '61 389) : cheers

I'm with you, this would be killer as a 2-dr hardtop, still good as a 2-dr sedan. About the only 4-dr that makes me daydream is an Eldorado Brougham. But I ramrodded a '64 Cat 4-dr sedan for a few years; they can still weave a spell... and at this point I am quite bored with modern junk and even a sedan of this vintage is attractive in comparison.

Although I would rock something like a 1965 Lotus Cortina or a Vintage TR-3 Triumph in a heartbeat... The vintage vehicle I really want is a GM truck, prefer 49-55...as a mild retro style street rod...
December 28, 201114 yr Those wheels really make it sucky...as does the WalMart "custom" steering wheel. I like seeing survivors of all body styles, but I hate it when they're mucked up. Then again, I'm just a crotchety old cuss so ignore me.

Actually, the wheels and steering wheel appear to be vintage aftermarket, which would make them somewhat collectible to someone. Not my thing, but still cooler than then modern overplayed 20" wheels and billet flame steering wheels.

They're right on, period-wise (tho I personally hate WWs with 'mags'). OEM steering wheel is FAR classier, with the clear acrylic sections & more proportional 17" diameter.

Edit: Same for 'blue dots'. OEM steering wheel is FAR classier, with the clear acrylic sections & more proportional 17" diameter. Also agreed, however, the OEM steering wheels, especially the clear sections, didn't always age well. Cracks and the clear turning cloudy and yellow make a decent argument for many to "upgrade". Who would have guessed one could get their original wheel remolded 50 years later. Edit: I prefer the vintage aftermarket items like Cragers, Hijackers, Hurst, Fuzzy Dice, and all the vintage window stickers of the era... Edited December 31, 201114 yr by SAmadei
