Speaking with the Detroit News, LaHood states he doesn’t supports the NTSB’s recommendation. "The problem is not hands-free. That is not the big problem in America." LaHood has been banging the drum on distracted driving in the U.S. for awhile, with him prodding states to crack down on distracted driving, especially texting or making calls behind the wheel. However, banning cell phone use in a car outright is going over the line. However, LaHood did extend an olive branch to the NTSB stating, Anybody that wants to join the chorus against distracted driving, welcome aboard. December 22, 201114 yr Banning electronics is impractical. What is needed is to continue the concentrated effort to shame and diminish bad behaviour, similar to drunk driving.
December 27, 201114 yr agreed. i mean something is going to happen sooner or later. i mean sheesh even turning the volume up or down on your STOCK radio could cause an accident. what they should do is offer alternatives like a slogan such as "don't be stupid pull over" something silly like that. something silly like the "click it or ticket" that they have around here for wearing seat belts. that threat (which is not enforced) has been enough to get the lazy people to put a seat belt on.
