December 28, 201114 yr Cheers or Jeers: 32,000 Mile 1958 Buick Special Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item3f11b76732 1958 Buick Special (Queen of Chrome) All original survivor. Under 32,000 original miles. exterior condition: Original paint with some areas of touch up, no major body work of any kind. All panels are straight, one slight ding in the deck lid. All doors open and close like new. All gaps between doors, lids and fenders are as new. Under side of vehicle also original with no patch work done or needed. Exterior chrome and stainless is in very good condition with some light pitting on the bumpers and some small dings in some of the stainless moldings. One small area of rust through on the rear bumper extension as shown in the pictures. Bias ply tires with approximately 75 % tread all the way around. This car does have original fender skirts that are included. The interior is all original and in excellent condition. There is a separation in the seam on the back rest of the front seat that can be clearly seen in the interior pictures and easily repaired to bring the interior to near perfect condition. There is one small burn on the front and rear seat (eraser tip size). The under side of the dash pad above the odometer and above the glove box has separated from the dash (about 3"long). Not easily seen in photos,or very noticable in person, but I thought should be pointed out. The dash pad itself is in fine condition. The wind shield wipers will need worked on to operate properly. All glass is in excellent condition, All windows operate like new. The original tube radio works perfectly (AM only of course). All turn signals, tail Ilghts and head lights work correctly. The speedometer is in need of repair. I am told there is a nylon gear that goes bad that may need replaced but can not confirm. The odometer shows 31,282 miles currently and does register accurately. There is no reason to think the milage is not correct. The overall condition of the interior and exterior of this survivor definately lend credibility to the mileage shown, of course there is no way to guarantee correct mileage on a car of this age except by overall condition. The engine is thought to be the original 364 nailhead with automatic transmission that shifts perfectly. Recent upgrades include: New plug wires, new plugs, points, condenser, distributor cap, the carburator has been rebuilt, new fuel lines, new fuel filter, oil and filter change, new battery, Professionally rebuilt master cylinder/booster, new brake hoses, new rear brake shoes, 4 new brake cylinders and all brakes adjusted. The fuel tank was removed and professionally lined. This car has been stored in a heated garage since at least 1987 by its previous owner who passed. I purchased it from his family and made the upgrades listed. It was rarely driven over the last 24 years. It is now driven locally and is in very good operating condition.
December 28, 201114 yr Boy, Buick sure was lax on the dash design in '58! Clean machine, but I'd always have Limited envy. Cheers.
December 28, 201114 yr Looks a bit bigger than the 2013 Encore. A person could prolly drop an Encore out of the trunk of this '58 like a military cargo plane.
