Dad has had his '96 Legacy wagon since summer of '08, and for a $1000 Craigslist find...still one of the best cars ever in the family, period. Insane AWD traction, solidly built, and efficient 2.2L. Bought it with 182k, got over 200k now I think, but in recent months now after no issues has been overheating again & again. Researching the boxer I knew headgaskets were a common item on the 2.5L engine and likely also on the 2.2L, just not as much so. With so many miles and so many years, most likely why. Rather than spend the money to repair, Craigslist time it was again.

Called me a month back saying he wished he could find a Baja. Same car but liked the idea of the trucklet bed. Just a bit out of his price range, by a few grand. Apparently the overheating continued and at the end of last week Craigslist came up again and he found another.

Picked it up last night. The 1996 white Legacy L automatic has transformed into a dark cherry colored 2000 Legacy L 5-spd stick with 191k. Listed for $2900, he offered $1500 because it needs a water pump he can install, and got it. Also been a while since a 5-spd stick has been anywhere in his garage, since the 80's. I told my mother time for her to learn now.

First cell phone shot. I'll check this one out in a couple of weeks. Hope it serves him well and no issues again, once cleaned up.

That's one of those suBARu's (1960's pronunciation). Cool.

I figured he'd find another.

Last time random different cars, I put "wagon" into Delaware Craigslist and there the white one became. I hope he keeps it or sells to someone who fixes it. Even I still liked driving the '96 Legacy. Looking at pictures, interested to see what the interior in the next gen '00+ ones are like. Similar but different.

As of now the '93 Fleetwood is going up on the block as well. They never drive it and he's tired of it. Should post it up here, if I get a chance.
