I had a friend in college who said "All is fair in love and war." My "friend" was a jerk -- he was the dweeb who busted his ass to get into the "bad boy" fraternity.

I disagree. It is NOT the right thing to do. The kind of people (men and women) who engage in that kind of stuff generally aren't good relationship material.

let the woman decide. don't be aggressive about stealing her, but if you think she has some interest, its ok to maintian enough flirting to see what might happen later. But you must be SERIOUS about this other person. If the dude is a really good friend, just decide what's worth more and weigh it vs. what you think their chances are of sticking 'together forever and ever, and never to part', as RICK ASTLEY would say.

My best friend lifted my girl when I went away to college in Detroit. Quickly turned out; he did me a huge favor (she was really messed up), tho at the time I was understandably pissed. The friendship was too strong to suffer for it and everything was fine shortly after.

i have had both ways, i stole one from a buddy, and he back, so we are square

Back in 2000 I met a wonderful chick. She was cute, funny, outgoing

and she was a die hard Bruins fan. I was coming back from a late

afternoon class at Suffolk University and struck up a conversation w/

her when we met on the train since she had a Bruins hat & Jersey on.

We hit it off pretty well and when we got to Haverhill it was pouring

cats & dogs. So I asked her if she needed a ride home since she was

planning on walking the 1.5 miles or so. She said yes and when IO

dropped her off she gave me her number without me having to even

twist her arm. At the time I was hanging out with my buddy Alex like

every damn day. He was bored with his marrige and miserable so I

was always coerced into coming over and chillin in his apartment.

Two months later, after Alex (my best friend at the time BTW) telling

me to take it easy and not rush into a relationship wiht her I found out

he had hooked up with her when she satarted blowing me off at the

EXACT same time as her. I stayed friends with both of them and got

more and more depressed as I became the constant fith wheel to their

relationship. Alex was not a gentleman about it either.

Two years later a combination of my relationship wiht Marcia being on

the rocks and Alex having moved down to Virginia without the girl in

question (Julie) I made a mistake and hooked up wiht her and cheated

on Marcia. Only later did I realise I did it more out of revenge than any

good reason. I still had feelings for Julie but it was obviously not going

anywhere with her. For a while the sex was good and then it all blew up

in my face. Even though Alex did nto even consider them to be togeater

he feels that I betrayed him.

Well, needless to say he's out of my life and I only email Julie once in a

while so as not to piss off Marcia or give her any reason to suspect any

wrong doing which will never happen again.

So yeah... I've been there done that. THe one good thing that came out

of it was that I realised what a jerk Alex is and no longer consider him

a true friend.
