March 28, 201213 yr * Spring is a great time to be a sports fan, with NCAA March Madness, the start of baseball season, near the end of the basketball & hockey seasons, soccer season, etc. Watching the Cincinnati/Ohio State NCAA game & anticipating the upcoming Kentucky/Louisville match, I thought about rivalries between cities, particularly those of all the different Chicago sports teams. What other cities/teams have rivalries? CHICAGO vs DETROIT Bears ... Lions White Sox ... Tigers Bulls ... Pistons Blackhawks ... Red Wings CHICAGO vs ST LOUIS Cubs ... Cardinals Blackhawks ... Blues CHICAGO vs GREEN BAY Bears ... Packers CHICAGO vs MILWAUKEE Cubs ... Brewers Bulls ... Bucs Wolves ... Admirals CHICAGO vs INDIANAPOLIS Bulls ... Pacers Bears ... Colts CHICAGO vs CLEVELAND White Sox ... Indians Bulls ... Cavaliers CHICAGO vs NEW YORK Cubs ... Mets White Sox ... Yankees Bulls ... Knicks CHICAGO vs LOS ANGELES Cubs ... Dodgers Bulls ... Lakers Bulls ... Clippers Blackhawks ... Kings CHICAGO vs BOSTON/NEW ENGLAND White Sox ... Red Sox Bears ... March 28, 201213 yr Boston Red Sox/NY Yankees is probably the biggest (and oldest!) rivalry in baseball. Also Angels/Dodgers is a good crosstown rivalry around here. Still waiting for that Freeway Series Fall Classic. ...but alas, the Dodgers suck.
March 28, 201213 yr Not to mention, Lakers/Clippers (the latter of which is surprisingly starting to get good now, SHOCK!) Ducks/Kings Rams/Raiders (back in the day) SF 49-ers/GB Packers Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins I'm sure Patriots/Colts is shaping up into a good rivalry as of late.
March 28, 201213 yr Hmmm...motor sport is much more my area of interest, but I do have a bit of interest in stick-n-ball sports. Rivalries that I know of in my recent cities of residence (Denver and Phoenix): Football: Denver Broncos vs Oakland Raiders Denver Broncos vs Kansas City Chiefs Denver Broncos vs AZ Cardinals Baseball: Colorado Rockies vs AZ Diamondbacks Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres Hockey: Colorado Avalanche vs Detroit Redwings AZ Coyotes vs ? And for my colleges, the ones that come to mind: Kent State Golden Flashes vs U of Akron Zips U of Michigan Wolverines vs Ohio State Buckeyes Edited March 28, 201213 yr by Cubical-aka-Moltar
March 28, 201213 yr Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Guess I missed something growing up. I could care less about watching sports. Love to play them for a limited time, but could care less about watching or having tax dollars spent on palaces for these over paid jock's. With that said, Give me a good old drag race any day, auto show, camping, skiing, out in the world playing with friends and family.
March 29, 201213 yr San Francisco/Los Angeles Giants vs Dodgers. This rivalry dates back to when both teams were still in New York. Stanford/Cal vs. USC/UCLA. Atlanta/New York Braves vs. Mets. Relatively new since both teams weren't division rivals until 1994. Atlanta/Philadelphia Braves vs. Phillies. The traditional division leader versus the new champ. Falcons vs. Eagles. Takes on new meaning since QB Michael Vick is currently the starting QB of the latter team. New York/Philadelphia Mets vs. Phillies. Giants vs. Eagles. Knicks vs. 76ers. Rangers vs. Flyers. (I'm not a hockey fan in the least, so I don't know how strong this is) Boston/New York Well... literally everyone versus everyone else...? Baltimore/Pittsburgh Ravens vs. Steelers. Always two of the most intense games each NFL season. Three if both make the playoffs. Edited March 29, 201213 yr by Lamar
