April 18, 200619 yr Did you accidentally sprinkle cocaine on your cheerios this morning? Im pretty sure touch screen nav, 20GB hard drives with USB and 9 GB media storage weren't around in the late 1980's. Not mention CD/DVD changers. As for the appearance....um yea wow...a different knob. DCX Nav Screen: Tahoe Nav Screen: DCX's looks a lot better, IMO.
April 18, 200619 yr I think the GM unit looks better, actually...lower gloss plastic. A more important question, though, is which one has a better nav screen (display, not the buttons and plastic trim) and how the nav works?
April 18, 200619 yr Gotta give credit to DCX for equiping Nav systems as an option for almost every carthey have. Menawhile Ford has barely any of them on it's cars, and Buick doesn't have a Nav option yet on it's cars...

April 19, 200619 yr yea...good thing we're in 2006 with LCD screens... EDIT: Those GM screens weren't exactly ahead of their time...they were another example of great idea, bad execution. They put too many functions on them and they were more cumbersome than traditional switches and dials in daily use...like many NAV units today. That said, GM now makes some of the most user-friendly and intuitive units on the market today. Edited April 19, 200619 yr by Croc

BINGO! - Damn you are bringing back memories as that is the touchscreen and even the colors of my '90 Toro - That was a dream to have everything was very easy to use and understand with two exceptions: 1. The seperated CD player that died on me twice (cost 250 to repair the first time - the second time I bought and aftermarket CD deck to replace it) 2. There was no way to tell it to bring in cold air without using the A/C (that was common on any full size Olds at that time though) Otherwise the VIC or Vehicle Information Center was a blast to have and use - also you could program that opening screen to say what you please such as: "Built especially for Pimpin Hoes"

April 19, 200619 yr That reminds me of a Chrysler Laser I saw the other day. Man, those things are so weird inside. It's liek sitting in the space shuttle, with all the digitized redouts and stuff.
April 21, 200619 yr The Tahoe look's better, it doesn't look as tacky as the chrysler one, their both okay, I'd settle for either, but the I think the Tahoe look's a tad nicer.
