DICK OWNED BOUTHILLIER MOTORS AND STOCKED COOL SPORTS CARS AND CUSTOM CARS DURING THE 50'S AND EARLY 60'S. THIS CAR WAS DONE IN 1962 FOR HIM TO SHOW CASE THE CLASS OF CARS HE SOLD. IT WAS SHOWN THROUGHOUT THE NORTHWEST WINNING FIRST PLACE IN BOTH THE SEATTLE AND PORTLAND ROADSTER SHOWS. HE COMMISSIONED MARV RINGHEIM OF MARV'S CORVETTE SPECIALTIES OF PORTLAND OREGON TO DO THE CUSTOM BODY WORK. THE BODY FEATURES EIGHT SCOOPS TAKEN FROM EARLY FERRARI DESIGN, STINGRAY SIDE SCOOPS BEHIND THE FRONT WHEELS THAT WERE NOT INTRODUCED UNTIL THE 1963 CORVETTE CAME OUT, RADIUSED WHEEL WELLS WITH TIPPED IN FENDERS, HAND SCULPTED SIDE TRIM TAKEN FROM A 62' VETTE, REAR QUARTERS ARE SHORTENED 3 INCHES, THE FRONT NOSE IS EXTENDED 13 INCHES, FRONT FENDERS SET FOR THE LINCOLN HEADLIGHTS, THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE 63' PLYMOUTH FURY. ORIGINALLY DONE IN A CANDY ORANGE BUT RECENTLY SHOT IN A MODERN RED. THE INTERIOR WAS DONE IN A CUSTOM ROLLED AND PLEATED BLACK NAUGAHYDE BY MARK TOMLINSON. JOHN SMEDS BORED THE 283 TO A 301 C.U.IN MILL WITH ALL THE RACE INTERNALS. TOPPED IT WITH WEIAND MANIFOLD THAT HOLDS 4 STROMBERG 48'S. HAVING OWNED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS NOW WE FIND OUT MORE HISTORY ALL THE TIME. IT WAS OWNED BY A GENTLEMAN IN HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA WHO WORKED FOR ONE OF THE STUDIOS IN THE EARLY 70'S WHEN IT WAS PAINTED IN NASSAU BLUE. WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL MAGAZINES THAT FEATURED THE CAR (CAR CRAFT AUG. 63', HOTROD SEP. 64', AND CAR CRAFT FEB. 64'). THE INTERIOR HAD A STOCK INTERIOR KIT INSTALLED AND THE WHEELS HAVE BEEN UPDATED. THE INTAKE AND STROMBERGS ACCOMPANY THE CAR BUT NOT PRESENTLY INSTALLED. BODY WORK IS STILL INTACT AND JUST NEEDS TO BE SPRAYED IN THAT CANDY PAINT TO BE PUT BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL GLORY. IT ALSO FEATURED A CUSTOMIZED HARDTOP WITH BUBBLES IN IT THAT GOT SEPARATED FROM THE CAR. WE DO HAVE A STOCK HARDTOP TO GO WITH THE CAR. THE ORIGINAL 62' CUSTOM 2-PIECE WHEELS GO WITH THE CAR AS WELL. OWNING MANY STOCK CORVETTES WE HAD PLANS OF PUTTING THIS CAR BACK IN IT'S CUSTOM SHOW CONDITION. IT HAS BEEN A CONVERSATION PIECE IN OUR COLLECTION FOR SURE. LACK OF SPACE AND TIME WE HAVE DECIDED TO SELL THIS UNIQUE PIECE OF HISTORY.
May 1, 201213 yr That custom job ruined it... The 55-60 Corvettes are, I would argue, the best looking of the bunch over the entire sixty year run. No brightwork, no contrasting colours, everything between the headlights looks both out of period and like an afterthought. Jeers.

May 3, 201213 yr I am going to digress...I wouldn't modify an original car to do this...but it's just odd enough that I like it a bit.
