Chevrolet News:Return of RWD - Chevrolet Announces SS For 2013

Featured Replies

You know, it wouldn't surprise me too much to see Buick get a Riviera out of this while Chevy gets the sedan, wagon, and Ute.

At least until Camaro moves to Alpha.

It would be fun to see someone chop the Coupe 60 into a Riviera.

If a V6 is offered in this car in NA GM can allways call it the 'SV6'... Australian naming minus the word 'Commodore' :AH-HA:

I'm pretty sure I'll be good with the exterior once they release it.

What would really pique my interest is if the interior is up to more modern US standards than was the G8.

The G8 was based on the '06 era VE series Commodore, I've read that the '14 will be have an MCE (VF) so I'm assuming the interior will be refreshed..

Here's an article on the VF, sounds like lots of updates are expected...

I saw a spy photo of the VF dash a while ago, It was incomplete but it showed enough to tell it was different. It also was LH Steering version.

If the new Chevy SS will pattern itself after the 2014 refresh, it should have a much better interior than the 2008 G8..... I hope.

Given that this will be a 2013 introduction, it may be just in time to receive the direct injected Gen V Pushrod V8. That'll be interesting for folks who want more than a 2-seat Corvette and don't want to pay the premium for an ATS-V or CTS-V.

That is why this car is so delayed as it is waiting for the DI V8. GM could have already had the car here if they did not want to wait for the VF upgrade of the coming V8. Once we see the DI in the Vetter the gates will be open and the engine will be here in many applications soon after.

LOL I forgot about that one :D

Don't forget, the V8Supercars will be racing at the "Circuit of The Americas" in Austin,Texas in 2013. Do you think Chevrolet will use the event as part of their pre-release advertising?

I know they won't do it but it would be cool to see them put Chevy badged on the cars at the race in TX. It would make it a Ford vs Chevy battle here and even the folks down under would not be offended. God knows we ship enough Chevy items there daily at work. You would be suprised how many Camaro's they have there.

They have done it for earlier events, so why not do it for the race in Texas

Buick logos for the China race

Chevy logos for the race in Bahrain ... (just ignore the PhotoShop oops where they forgot to take care of the reflection of the Holden badge on the front bumper)
