Lot of cheap details. For EX- couldn't MB get a consistent font sizing on the odometer numbers? I mean, really. :scratchchin:

I didn't know how to post the pics without a website link. But this was the most expensive car in the world when it was introduced in 1963. And it was owned by Castro, Saddam Hussein, Nicolae Ceausescu, Josip Broz-Tito, Pol Pot, Leonid Brezhnev, Idi Amin, Hirohito, Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-Il, a sort of murders row of royalty if you will. Other notable owers were Jack Nicholson, Hugh Heffner, Elvis and Elizabeth Taylor.

A downside to this car, if you have to replace the switch that controls the 4 windows, it currently retails for $11,200.

^ That's just pure unadulterated gouging.

Those cars were sweet...huge w/ incredibly complex systems (hydraulics for power windows, door locks, etc).

Everything about these cars is uber expensive.

They are (and always were) maintenance disasters.

Yes, probably bigger money pits than my sister's '84 500SEL. They build the 600 into the '80s, IIRC.

Cadillac had hydraulic systems for power accessories in the late '40s, BTW.

I like the idear of it, but yes, maintenance nightmare. And a new Benz is likely the same way. What is there to gain from all this engineering overkill if none of it is reliable? If the goal is to make the customer's life easier, they fail.

Which is why I have passed on buying one....
