July 8, 201213 yr Author Italian re bdied Mustang first gen fastback that later came up missing...45 years later, it still has never been found...
July 8, 201213 yr Author A couple for cubitar, as he shares my love of racing and Porsche... Since I have a serious old truck fetish as well... You guys knew you wouldn't get through one of my car pic posts without more vintage Mustang fastback content...right?
July 8, 201213 yr Author As a lover of vintage BMW as well as a GM lover...I liked this... Back to some GM content...
July 9, 201213 yr Ah, that's a Tyrrell! I have never actually seen one of those. I always wondered how the six-wheeled layout worked.
July 9, 201213 yr And I too, love vintage Bimmers. Namely Das Batmobil!: ...and for those of us who like our E9's clean (and can appreciate fine art): Edited July 9, 201213 yr by Turbojett
July 10, 201213 yr ^ What's with the round wheel well & the squared wheel well? That crap drives me nuts.
July 11, 201213 yr never noticed that before...but I can't say it bothers me so much, considering how gorgeous the rest of the car is. Like a beautiful woman with two different color eyes. ...actually scratch that metaphor. that's sexy.
July 11, 201213 yr I think David Bowie has two different color eyeballs. We'll have to ask Mick Jagger.
July 11, 201213 yr Author ^ What's with the round wheel well & the squared wheel well? That crap drives me nuts. I actually kind of like it on that car...
July 11, 201213 yr I love the styling of those late '50s-early '60s sports cars like the BMW 507 and Ferrari California....fantastic proportions, and so obviously RWD...
July 11, 201213 yr I'm gonna have to call those mismatched wheel wells an industrial gaff. Those ferraris are nice, they have good proportions, they're just kinda bland/generic, IMO. To each his own.
July 14, 201213 yr Smokey's "13" is a sweetheart. What's goin' on with the chrome piece over the grille on the CTS race cor?
July 14, 201213 yr Author I always did like the earlier 50's stuff better than the later 50's stuff...I really, really like this next pic. I think its just awesome... And yes I still have a fetish for green cars. Smokey's "13" is a sweetheart. What's goin' on with the chrome piece over the grille on the CTS race cor? Looks like it is coming loose...
July 14, 201213 yr Cool VW, I forget what they're called. Dude's losin' his drawers with the mohawk there.
July 14, 201213 yr Author Cool VW, I forget what they're called. Dude's losin' his drawers with the mohawk there. I like how it has some of the same design language as the Corvair we both love so much.... No cartpics thread is complete without Mustang Fatback pics.... I can pretty much enjoy any vintage car being respectfully beaten upon Water cooled 911 almost ranks with Muira and Jag E type as being one of the best looking cars ever, methinks. Oops, I meant to say air cooled, although I love the Water Cooled 9111s also...another A C pic This car just does it for me on so many levels its not even funny. I love about anything open wheeled and roadster ish, but then again you guys already know that...
July 14, 201213 yr Author Very rare (963 built) Edsel two door wagon...Camino, are you out there? I have no end to automotive lust, and I love the Patina on this thing... Another version of the same bodystyle....
July 14, 201213 yr Author More Green, more 1950's More Green... one for Balthzar... Another Green Merc... Greyish green, but still hot... Don't know if I posted this pic before, but the 55 Chevrolet is still freakin hot IMHO...I just love it as a two door post... GMCTG, you out there.. A blue buick of blu... Mopre Merc...I love these, although I love the Cougars better as far as Mercs go... :pbjtime: For Camino We'll kill the mood with the Euro stuff but I love the pic...
July 14, 201213 yr Author Thank you, thank you, thank you... I grew up in Wisconsin and was a fan of American motors as a kid.... Always liked this concept.
July 14, 201213 yr Author ...and the red white and blue Javelin is one of my fav. race color schemes ever.... I also like But the American Motors Javelin...WOW....\ Image 8 of 97 Image 58 of 97 This thing just screams get in, sit down, and drive me...HARD... Image 44 of 97 Before I forget it, cool link to the Trans Am Javelin... http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/773-AMC-Javelin%20Trans-Am-V8# Maybe this should be in the curves section instead? Sigh...now that I'm looking at photographs of old race cars... Hornet brings back memories because my wife's family had one when we started dating...she was 18, I was 19....that's a while back... Obviously there's was not red white and blue... Guy I knew bought one of these brand new back in the day, sadly he died of cancer about ten years ago or so...
July 14, 201213 yr The BMW (bttm of post #184) reminded me of the Javelin's roof spoiler, so I went looking. The javelin's is factory, is BMWs, and who had it first? I still think the AMX/2 is about the most beautiful sports car design ever: Edited July 14, 201213 yr by balthazar
July 14, 201213 yr Author Balthazar, you and I could agree on the AMX 2 design...simply fabulous! One more vintage Javelin pic and then I will quit...but my automotive lust seems to know no bounds. THANKS for the pics Balthazar...
July 14, 201213 yr I love those first generation Javelins too. The second gens were alright, but they lost that charisma th early ones had. OBTW, found this. figured after I picked myself up off the ground, I'd post it. The BMW (bttm of post #184) reminded me of the Javelin's roof spoiler, so I went looking. The javelin's is factory, is BMWs, and who had it first? I still think the AMX/2 is about the most beautiful sports car design ever: Holy Moley that's gorgeous. So simple and clean.
July 14, 201213 yr Author I really like the later cars also, though... And turbojett...I might have to ban you from this thread for my own self good... (note the sarcasm please...) I am seriously going to loose sleep tonight over that last red Javelin you posted.... That thing is effin SWEET...OMFG! (And no sarcasm about the loosing sleep part....that thing is BEAUTIFUL!)
July 14, 201213 yr That red-orange Javelin Turbojett posted, are those "Minilite" wheels? It is one SEXY American. Edited July 14, 201213 yr by ocnblu
July 14, 201213 yr but wait, there's more! As a joke, Hot Rod Magazine ran a story about the return of AMC, offering up a whole lineup of wonderfully done concepts. Alas, that lovely Javelin vert, Matador, Ambassador, AMX coupe and AMX/4 are painfully not real: There was also a Gremlin and a Pacer, but I'll spare you. Here's the story instead: http://www.hotrod.co...c_concept_cars/ Edited July 14, 201213 yr by Turbojett
July 14, 201213 yr Author I remember the story, and knew right away it was fake... But really good design, IMHO.
July 15, 201213 yr Author http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UQUsWvQu8I&feature=relmfu Lots of cool chebbies in the you tube video....
