June 16, 201213 yr Cheers or Jeers: 8,000 Mile 1977 Cadillac Eldorado Link:1977 Cadillac Eldorado You'll be hard pressed to find a 1977 Cadillac Eldorado with less miles than this Beauty. Only 8421 original miles. Very desirable Black on Black survivor. This car has always been stored in a heated garage and has never been driven in winter. Absolutely rust free along with having all original paint. Only thing not original are the tires. The originals where replaced due to cracking. It still has the original untouched spare in the trunk. The interior is finished in Houndstooth Black and White and is in near perfect condition. It's powered by a 425 cubic inch V8 that runs like the day it was driven off the assembly line. This car truly is as ORIGINAL as you'll find for a 35 year old classic Caddie.
June 17, 201213 yr I'm with Oldsmoboi...The 425 had its work cut out for it trying to yank around all that lard. My granny had a '77 Coupe deVille with the 425...seemed to hustle along pretty well but I think it weighed significantly less than the Eldo.
June 18, 201213 yr ^ Yep, around 750 lbs less. Still, there was NOT a great deal of power difference in the 500 by '76, and the 425 in '78. The last 500 had 190 HP, the 425 had 180. With FI, it was 215 / 195. Most of the issue was the weight : '78 E ~ 4906 lbs. To 'fix' the 'problem', you'd want the 400 HP / 550 TRQ 500 from '70 in there.
June 18, 201213 yr ^ Yep. Cadillac did issue dual ratings in '72. 400/550 was on 10.5:1 CR, it dropped to 8.5:1 in '72. There the ratings there were HP : 365 / 235, so you can guesstimate the net on the '70.
June 18, 201213 yr Wow, that is a huge drop in torque with only a minimal drop in horsepower. Really tells you that the torque is all down low.
June 18, 201213 yr nonono- that's 365 HP gross, 235 HP net. I don't have dual TRQ numbers handy, but rest assured the TRQ was well above the HP. Shouldn't have typed it out that way. RECAP~ 1970 : 400 HP / 550 TRQ (10:5.1, gross) 1971 : 365 HP / 535 TRQ (8:5.1, gross) 1972 : 235 HP / 385 TRQ (8:5.1, net) Edited June 18, 201213 yr by balthazar
