And, remember that ex-fire chief Suburban I posted a while back? It's still available too. Might buy something, might not, but I'm looking carefully.
July 27, 201213 yr I like the Chevy Custom Deluxe stepside. I've found a couple of '85 Sierra's I posted today that have got me interested, but not to the point I'll act on them
July 28, 201213 yr I'm thinking he'll know it when he sees it. You know how it goes, you've been to a few AA (Automobiles Anonymous) meetings yourself.
July 28, 201213 yr I'm thinking he'll know it when he sees it. You know how it goes, you've been to a few AA (Automobiles Anonymous) meetings yourself. More than I want to admit
July 28, 201213 yr Author I'd really like to find an older 2500 series regular cab 4x4 with a snow plow and low miles for a reasonable price. If I find that, both the Tahoe and the ROPOS go on the block. I'm thinking he'll know it when he sees it. You know how it goes, you've been to a few AA (Automobiles Anonymous) meetings yourself. And yeah, this is certainly true.
July 28, 201213 yr Or maybe something Mother truck-ish: http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/3087259631.html
July 29, 201213 yr Author That first one is perfect, BP! Just what I'm looking for! The other one, like Mothertruck, is too damn long to plow with.
July 29, 201213 yr The stepside is gawgeous, primered fender notwithstanding. I second the stepside...like it better than the others by a long shot! That work truck...I like that also!
July 29, 201213 yr In fact, I'm going to call about that first one tomorrow. That one seemed to fit your basic criteria. Curious what you find out. Plus you might be able to sell that lift gate to defray some of the purchase price...
July 29, 201213 yr I love that color green. I call it Game Warden Green. It can be special ordered on a new GM truck. I think it'd be cool to have a shortie in that color with Cragar Soft 8 wheels and BFG All-Terrain T/A tires.
July 29, 201213 yr Author In fact, I'm going to call about that first one tomorrow. That one seemed to fit your basic criteria. Curious what you find out. Plus you might be able to sell that lift gate to defray some of the purchase price... True. The lift gate is worth a few bucks, but can also be a handy thing to have. The green is a long-standing fleet color on GM trucks, I can't quite remember what it is called though...
July 29, 201213 yr Good luck! Several years ago, when I was buying the Miata I was also thinking about building a mildly modified S-10. Looked at a second gen S-10 that was that color....neat truck. Keep us posted, dude!
July 29, 201213 yr Author Heard back from the guy with the green truck in Mass. he is checking on a few things for me.
July 30, 201213 yr Or maybe something Mother truck-ish: http://westernmass.c...3087259631.html This one ton is a sweet ride. I always like this look and yes I know it is a football field long and wide, but nothing like Truckin!!! Just wish it was a diesel. Edited July 30, 201213 yr by dfelt
July 30, 201213 yr Author Woodland Green - thanks, Roger. I got all satisfactory answers from the guy in Mass., now to figure out if I can get up there to have a good look and bring the thing home.
July 30, 201213 yr Woodland Green - thanks, Roger. I got all satisfactory answers from the guy in Mass., now to figure out if I can get up there to have a good look and bring the thing home. Ooooh, now it gets interesting!
July 31, 201213 yr Author I'm all but convinced to make the trip, just have to figure out the logistics. Oh, and that stepside we all seem to love? I talked with the owner and it isn't really what I need, but it would make a great toy! Wood bed, 292 straight six, no AC...

July 31, 201213 yr This one is posted from June 25, but if still available might be one for you to check out: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/ctd/3044718186.html
August 1, 201213 yr Author I pretty much set on a low-mileage unit, Roger. I think I'll be making that trip north.
August 1, 201213 yr I pretty much set on a low-mileage unit, Roger. I think I'll be making that trip north. If you end up making the road trip and pass through Hartford, let me know and I'll show you the Novamad
August 2, 201213 yr Author Man! I hope I can do that! I love that car. If I go, this will be a flying trip. Get there, buy the truck, drive home. The dogs can only cross their legs for so long...
August 5, 201213 yr Author Off to Mass in the morning, and I'll have two of these to choose from. Going to be a long day.
August 5, 201213 yr Author Yeah, he has two equipped the same way. The other one has 66k on it, but looks better and is dark blue metallic.
August 5, 201213 yr Improves the odds you're coming home with something after that drive! Too bad they pre-date the GM supplied hours meter on the engine...
August 5, 201213 yr Author Improves the odds you're coming home with something after that drive! Too bad they pre-date the GM supplied hours meter on the engine... That's true, I expect to drive one of them home. No big thing on the hour meter, the miles are enough for me to make a judgement looking at the two.
August 6, 201213 yr Oh, blue - my favorite! Can't wait to see pics of your new truck and read the story of your adventure
August 7, 201213 yr Well, we haven't heard from you so I'm assuming you're on your trip to buy the truck now. However, if it doesn't work out, the GMC dealer I pass on the way into work has a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE1 4WD with the 8.1L V8 and a Manual Trans with 54K miles for $17k: http://www.colemanbuickgmc.com/VehicleDetails/used-2006-GMC-Sierra_2500HD-4WD_Regular_Cab_Long_Box_SLE1-Lawrenceville-NJ/1802892013
August 7, 201213 yr You've needed a better work truck than the RPOS for awhile, interested to see what you bring home.
August 7, 201213 yr Author Epic fail. The search goes on. Nice truck Roger, but I'm done with financing car purchases so that one is not in budget.
August 7, 201213 yr Author Both trucks were far more rotted than I could stomach, had to say no. Then, couldn't find a way home until 68 came to the rescue and volunteered to drive me back. I arrived to find that the dogs had had an awful fight. Just not a very good 36 hour period.
August 7, 201213 yr Sorry to see this was a mis-adventure. And yes, I can understand about the price (I just immediately thought of you once I saw the manual trans). Good luck with the search...
