  • The thing is, pricing on plow trucks will only get worse after this month. And, I had hoped to keep the momentum from selling the vette going...

That one seemed to fit your basic criteria. Curious what you find out. Plus you might be able to sell that lift gate to defray some of the purchase price...

Woodland Green - SEO color (special order).

A clean truck indeed...

I'm just going to have to try a different tack on all of this.

Maybe buy something cool that I can drive now while I sell the Tahoe, and maybe flip later.

I don't know, but something has to start happening, I hate inertia.

How much above budget is this thing?

How much above budget is this thing?

Double.

It's out of the question right now.

  • 1 month later...

Seller says that he thinks he has it sold.

Bummer that is a nice clean ride over all even with being used for plowing duty.

What happened with the six cylinder one?

Seller says that he thinks he has it sold.

Bummer. I thought for sure I found one in your price range, mileage range and geography this time :)

Yeah BP, I really thought so too!

Ocn: I'm still thinking about that 6-banger.

I looked at a 2001 2500HD w/ 58k on it this afternoon.

Has a plow, but is VERY basic (not even A/C)

Was a school district vehicle, and the employees must be real prizes - they beat the snot out of the body and spread paint all over the interior.

Seller wants 5k for it.

Other than being thumped, and having no A/C, it would be perfect.

Maybe the only thing to do is buy something like that 2001, and build it myself.

When 2001s with 150k and more miles are going for $10-15k, this one at 5k starts to look good despite the spartan equipment and bashed panels.

I wonder how tough it would be to add A/C?

The other side of the coin, of course, is that I need another project like a hole in the head.

Watch it, once you get a hole in the head strange things seem to enter! ;)

Dude you're going to let that 6 cylinder plow truck slip through yer fingers.

Yeah, maybe.

It really isn't what I need, so I'm just holding off a bit longer hoping to find a good 2500.

None of the options (1500 or 2500) are particularly enticing.

You shall feel the right moment. Sometime the good thing is to let things go before good things happen to you.

The only one that would work for me is the pricey one.

It would be perfect, but the price is way out of line.

The others are just too long to plow with.

I do love how he put the "Invader454" decal on the air intake!

EDIT: As a matter of fact, that truck is just about everything I've been looking for. I saw the ad when he posted without the pics and was interested, even more now that I've seen it.

Too bad about the price, and the absence of a plow.

Ok, I can see the 3500 SRW Crew Cab being long, but is the extended cab really that much worse than a regular cab long bed? Two extra feet? You're the plow expert, not me. But in my development the landscaper that plows snow in the winter uses extended cab Ford Super Duty dump trucks (then again, the driveway you plow doesn't have a lot of room for turning around in).

Personally, if I had the $3.5k cash available I'd go take a look at the green 3500 SRW crew cab. Those trucks are awesome and pretty rare, especially that one being a SLE model (most are SL 2WDs). This one is a municpal truck for the next town over from me and I constantly keep my eye on it when I go through that town:

Any increased length in wheelbase makes a huge difference for plowing, and overall length doesn't help either.

If you are doing large, open, parking lots the long trucks aren't so bad, but in any tight area they are almost useless.

4WS didn't have enough takers, I guess. I imagine that system would be useful in a plowing situation. Not sure how reliable it was.

I'm not sure that you could get a plow-prep package with the Quadrasteer, but yeah, it would have helped quite a bit.

I saw one one time with a plow on it, and a pretty high-wattage lightbulb went on in my head.
