mazda 6 v6 with 6speed starting trouble

a friend's car.. she called me said it took ~3 times for it to start, seemed like low battery at first...

i didn't have a multi meter with me so i don't know about the battery, yet.

a quick internet search gave me this

fuel pump problems are common on the 6...?

When testing fuel pump issues, I'll put the car on 'run' for 5~10 seconds before starting it. This turns on most fuel pumps and pressurizes the system. If it starts normally that way, the pump is probably dying, as it is not pressurizing the system fast enough.

good tip, i'll check that out.

the pump is accessible under the back seat is what i've found on the net...

i should check for the sound of it running while in "run" too by listening for it in the back, right?

i checked the battery with a multi. resting V was ~10.5. think we found the culprit.. with starting V dropping ALOT. but still intermittently starting. just very weird.
