After a twelve year break from the civilian market, AM General is reportedly set to offer a kit-car of the C-Series HMMWV, or Humvee. The kit will meet U.S. government regulations and has been made possible by a deal with GM. The kit will include a body with 2,800 installed rivets, chassis with springs, cross members, geared hubs, half-shafts, differentials, a cooling package, two fuel tanks, and a soft top with soft doors. The only items you need to add is the engine and transmission (Duramax V8 diesel anyone?). Options will include protection plates for the rocker panels, driveline parts, a winch, heated windshield, geared fan drive, and a central tire inflation system. August 6, 201213 yr This totally Rocks!!! I know there are people out there that still want these bad boys and being able to buy one minus the engine and tranny is awesome. This allows one to truly have their diesel.
August 6, 201213 yr I have nothing against someone owning one. Honestly, they need to make it so kit cars, be they a factory five roadster, a steel bodied thirty 32 Ford, or this, can be built.

August 8, 201213 yr Thanks for the post. It was really a great one. Normally, a Humvee kit car would be the subject of derision. Not when it's by the business that produced it though, as AM General is going to start selling them. You can buy your dream car as Humvee kit car coming from AM General.
