Who were the two American manufacturers behind this pickup concept?

PickupTrivia.jpg

Jeez, I don't have the foggiest...there's a vaguely Corvair hint to the front. But nothing is coming to mind here at all. I'm stumped.

Check out that grille opening. Looks designed to suck up flood waters or sump'n'...

The thing do look to have 4WD, so Willys might be part of it...

Why do I feel like the varying wheel offsets should be a clue? :scratchchin:

Blue Bird?

Thomas?

I don't know if Budd made school buses.

Wayne? I just don't have a clue.

It's the Jeep WideTrac concept built by Jeep and Crown Coach Corporation, maker of fire trucks and buses.

Ohhhhh... I see wut you did there... you erased JEEP!

It's a pretty neat vehicle, in the Unimog mold.

I like the fact that it has breakover and departure angles like my seriously Trail Rated Jeep Patriot! :AH-HA:

Precursor to the Forward Control jeeps?

Made me think of them and WWII era military trucks right away.

I'd think that this would be the concept for the next generaton of FC Jeeps, as they ended production in 1965 and these photos look to be at least from the early '60s.

Looking at the cars in the background, I spy with my little eye a '56 Phord wagon and the roof of what is likely a '53 Plymouth. Looking through the passenger side window of the Jeep thingamabob, I might be able to convince myself of seeing a '56 Lincoln front fender & headlight.

I ain't as good at this as I used to be.

Very Cool Jeep, This is the type of auto, Jeep should produce or better yet. GM HELLO GM, You should use your AWESOME Hummer 4x4 tech with a Unimog style of building the ultimate 4x4 and sell it as part of the GMC label.

Professional Grade for Off Road Fun! :D
