October 31, 201213 yr I don't want this to become a political thread. I'm posting this because I don't like the whole "selling my '63 Impala so I can buy a Prius" aspect of it. First of all, who in their right mind would sell a pristine '63 Impala and replace it with a Prius? Second of all, by depicting the domestic car as old and outdated, a candidate for replacement by a shiny new import, they are dissing the entire domestic auto industry. It is a subliminal message that really pisses me off. At the very least, they show the Impala with its loving, attentive new owner later in the piece, but by that point, the damage is done. Am I overreacting?
October 31, 201213 yr You are not overreacting in the least! That started out fun and ended BAD on so many levels! My only question is what was Sean Penn's large sacrifice compaired to Kid Rocks?---None that I could see!!---That was a BIASED production! Ill take the Impala and the Loving of America any day!!
October 31, 201213 yr WOW, both are such pathetic actors. The script is totally comedy funny, but the poor Impala! The comment "Think you can still see Russia from your house." is too funny. Sad that they send home a message of give up American products for sending your money over seas. Yes there are jobs here on the production line for Asian companies, but they still send the profits back overseas where it helps out their motherland more than ours. Kid Rock, why did you not show going to a Chevy Dealership and getting a Volt! that would have really made a solid message of Americans United.
October 31, 201213 yr It is amusing...Penn being a lefty, and Mr Rock being a right winger. Both can agree on the Prius, America's sweetheart. It is amazing how ubiquitous Priuses have become...I see so many of them everyday, taxis, regular use. Was sitting in traffic at a light the other evening and counted 8 of them around me and across the intersection..of different generations. Edited October 31, 201213 yr by Cubical-aka-Moltar
