January 19, 201313 yr Should I do an article that has a strong political connotation surrounding the Jeep China thing?
January 20, 201313 yr If you feel it will break your own (proper and good) rule, then I say no, unless you post it in your politics section, which would be fine imo.
January 20, 201313 yr I don't know, it sounds like an industry story - perhaps that should trump the political aspect on a car forum.
January 20, 201313 yr Author The issue is that there are other media outlets reporting that the Mitt Romney lie of 2012 that Jeep is moving jobs to China is now true. It still isn't true. They are also reporting that the next Jeep Patriot will be built in China (possibly true) and then imported here for sale (not true). If the Patriot is imported, it would more likely come from a Fiat plant in the EU... but I want to figure out these details and call out the other media on it.

That's not politics, that's just journalism - something the "media" has forgotten how to do. Do it, set the record straight.
January 21, 201313 yr Drew, this is not Political, Professional Journalism 101, Report the Facts correcting the lies and challange people to come to their own conclusion. Remember, the political drive is a 24/7 year round for those that will push to try and get the presidential position. Who knows what Mitt is up too or if he will even consider a 3rd run for the Presidents job, but his attack on America with lies needs to be corrected with impartial balanced professional journalism that allows one to state the facts and point out the errors of others and challanges the readers to decide for themselves if this is taking jobs away of just common sense business for building for the local market.
January 22, 201313 yr I don't think you'll catch Mitt throwing his hat in the ring again. Maybe he will run for governor of Utah, he'd probably get elected easily there. Anyhoo, I assume any Chinese Jeep production is for the Chinese market or other markets in the region? I know that there have been older Jeep models built under license in China for decades, does Fiat/Chrysler now sell Jeeps in China more directly? Edited January 22, 201313 yr by Cubical-aka-Moltar
January 22, 201313 yr Two presidential bloody noses is usually enough for any candidate to take a zero on the next round. But all of that is really beside the point if mis-information about Jeep is still being bandied about. dfelt is right, this is journalism 101.
