March 7, 201313 yr Winter's almost over and that means its almost time to get stuff down on the cars. For the Intrepid: A good detailing inside and out. Front sway bar links Front sway bar bushings Rear struts Rear sway bar link (passenger side) Tires Possibly get wheels repainted New set of lug nuts Have the rocker seam repainted For the Prizm A good detailing inside and out. Rear struts Exhaust manifold Tires Get rust fixed on rockers before it gets bad Do body work on the quarter panel and finally paint it Replace headliner Also want to get various fluids changed on both cars. Power steering, differential, etc. There's a few other side projects I want to do, but those are the main ones. What about you guys?
March 10, 201313 yr 2500HD ~ • Clean & AL polish the rims, new lug nuts, may paint calipers • lube chassis • new shocks • touch up some undercarriage rust (limited surface rust) • fuel filter • have to look at the auxiliary trans cooler, it started to seep. Just did the 100K trans service last month. Tires were replaced in April. Other vehicles ~• Started the final strip of the '65 Bonne carcass, should be done in a few weeks. Already cut the trunk pan out. • Strip the '60 Bonne, a bunch of parts to store/sell off that one • Carefully strip the '64 Cat; ex-daily driver, it's a complete car. Plus I may have lost something of particular value in it years ago after those 3 are disposed of, will move my '40 Ford over to my buddy's shop: • service the rear/ rear drums/ rear bearings • extract 3 broken exhaust studs so I can get the shorty headers on & fab the exhaust • install the new radiator • rebuilt the ignition & wire the lights • finish fab'bing the floor (it's wood )• new brake lines• Need to check if the 2-spd rear is working OK, and it's not stuck in the low range.
March 10, 201313 yr Clean up the '84 Merc 500SEL and '91 Merc 300CE in the back carport and sell them.
March 10, 201313 yr Author I got an idea on what some of this will cost, about $120 to repaint all 4 wheels and about $200 to fix the rust. Not bad.
March 11, 201313 yr Plan is to refurbish my daughters 99 Durango suspension and possibly convert it to run on CNG. Plan to replace complete exhaust system on 94 suburban to go quiet again. Wife hates the 3" straight pipes with Muffler tips. Very load inside under hard acceleration. Detail inside and out all my auto's this spring. But will start on those that do not go up the mountain as it is still ski season.
March 11, 201313 yr No one's got any plans? Still doing triage, so no firm plans just yet. Too many directions, not enough time, nor money. Trying to get the timing for each thing down in my mind before diving back in. But I will be diving back in.
March 11, 201313 yr The Toronado hasn't been run since mid-December when she was put away for running very poorly. Sometime this week I'm going to limp her over to a former Chevy/Oldsmobile dealer who's owner is a member of the local OIds club and his mechanics have experience with this vintage 307. After that is done, I'll need to assess the list for the spring. My biggest problem is time. I'm traveling 50% of the time until June.
March 13, 201313 yr Other than some preventive maintenance items and maybe some replacement items, both the Envoy and G6 will be due for their annual wash, claybar and wax jobs. Since I will be going to South Carolina the first week of April for my step-son's graduation from USMC Basic Training, I will be handling the cleaning of the vehicles during weekends throughout April.
March 13, 201313 yr Author I did some Spring Cleaning, got rid of the spare door and hatch for a the Shadow which is no longer among us, and got rid of the waste fluid in the garage. I also picked up a speaker for my car, the back driver's was crackling.
