March 25, 201312 yr By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com March 25, 2013 Fiat's brand chief Gianluca Italia said to Autocar that after the 500X crossover, Fiat will not expand the 500 lineup anymore. “We’re talking about a few models with 500 that leverage on the asset, not several. Mini is a brand, 500 isn’t. Fiat is the brand so the 500 does not need to be. There is a limit.” Fiat's 500 lineup is currently made up of 500 500C 500 Abarth 500C Abarth 500L Fiat will also be adding a seven-seat version of the 500L and a crossover 500X. March 25, 201312 yr Fiat's 500 lineup is currently made up of 500 500C 500 Abarth 500C Abarth 500L Fiat will also be adding a seven-seat version of the 500L and a crossover 500X. So really their "lineup" is two models. At least so far and will be four after it has fully expanded. It's not like the 500, 500C and their Abarth variants are different cars so I count them all as one vehicle. I'm always curious why things get worded like this. Maybe it is just the way I think. To me the Chevrolet "lineup" includes the Camaro, not the Camaro, Camaro SS, Camaro 1LE, Camaro ZL1, and the convertible variant of each. They are all the same vehicle. I do have to say in this case, though, I don't understand why the 500L and 500X didn't get their own model names unless Fiat is attempting to make 500 a brand.
March 26, 201312 yr The 500L should have been the 600, to use an old Fiat people mover name. They should bring the Panda here for the crossover. Create distinct identities for each model.
