August 30, 201312 yr William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 30, 2013 With the seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette making its way to the production line, the rumors are beginning to fly on the model in the hopper, the Z06. Car and Driver got their hands on some information and it looks like General Motors wants to one up the Z06, literally. To start, the next-generation Z06 will be called the Z07. This makes sense as the Corvette is entering its seventh-generation. Or maybe not. Power will come from a small-block V8, but not a large displacement one. Instead, C&D reports that the V8 likely use a single or twin-turbochargers producing around 600+ horsepower. Their reasoning? The recent Cadillac Elmiraj concept which has a 4.5L twin-turbo V8 with 500 horsepower. A seven-speed manual is likely the transmission. Other items on tap include Brembo-sourced carbon-ceramic disc brakes and a set of sticker tires from Michelin. Source: Car and Driver William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. August 30, 201312 yr Sounds Sweet! Show us the production! One Request, can you add just a bit more room inside for us 6'6" tall peeps to fit please? I can fit now but have to be reclined to fit. Rather be more upright.
August 30, 201312 yr *Throws money at screen* Ha, but this does look like a pretty good setup. But if they are going to be calling every series of Corvette by it's generation, then does this mean we will one day be seeing Z10's and whatnot? That would be interesting to witness...
September 2, 201312 yr Interesting piece of news. I like Corvettes. They are pretty sick. Sounds like they want to go all out for the Z08.
September 17, 201312 yr The new name makes sense but I'm just so used to "Z06" it will be a little wierd. Regardless I'm still excited to see how it turns out.
September 18, 201312 yr Fine with me. As long it has a V8, RWD and a manual gearbox is available then it'll keep the owners happy.
