2014 GMC Sierra shortbed regular cab 4X4 video

Featured Replies

Here's a new base model Sierra regular cab, shortbed 4X4 in a dealership video.  Sweet!

Seems to me like the 4X4 sits more level than the 4X2 Silverado I posted earlier... hmmm...

In the screen capture shot, I do not see what some ppl are complaining about, re: regular cab shortbox proportions. Seems right to me at least.

Are you seriously saying it's short and squatty, all ass and no body? HOW COULD YOU!?

I think it's cool. Still the best. A reg cab longbed is nice too though.

Defective? wth

Don't worry, ocnblu, I still like these trucks :smilewide: You're not alone! My preference is more to the Regular Cab, Long Bed 4x4 model, but to us ol' time truck fans there's nothing like a "shortie" ;)

Well I don't mean that one in the picture is mine... just what I was used to seeing as a kid. Dad has a longbed version, but my issue isn't with longbed or shortbed, it is with how little the cab looks sitting on top of the huge body.

I can tell you're jealous.

I understand what you mean Drew. In comparing the two photo's you can see the new truck has an almost Jelly bean form compared to how up right the windshield is on older trucks.

Surprised no one has just taken the fron of the hood to the top of the cab and give it that ultimate wind swept form like a Jelly Bean.

Ford did that in 1997, dfelt. It was very polarizing for the time; GM did a similar move 3 years earlier with the 1994 S-series lineup (GMC Sonoma/Chevy S10). I think it was more accepted on the smaller trucks than the full-sizes, seeing as how "truck guys" like their mini-Big Rig look for their full size pickup.

Drew, I get your point. There's so much "body" on the new trucks that the cabs do look out of place (almost like a toy Tonka Dump truck - lots of body, little cab). With the aerodynamics needed for fuel efficiency, the windshield is more raked than ever with the new 2014 models (expect Ford and others to follow). However, these views are from pictures posted on the Internet - the two regular cab, long bed 2014 Sierras I've seen in person looked very similar to their outgoing 2013 models that it makes little difference to me (and I'm the target market for this product).

If th hood had a slight slope to it, it might make the cab not look as small. But with the boxy styling (a little retro '80s/'90s GM full-size), it makes the cab look smaller with the raked windshield. I'd still rock a regular cab, long bed Z71 4WD :smilewide:
