April 27, 200619 yr You guys all know by now that I'm working on cleaning house(selling all my cars). So, having seen many of my old rides and knowing my current ones, what do you think my next one will be or should be? I'm all over the map. New/old, truck/SUV/Car, classic wagon/El Camino, a Zeta variant, even tempted by Kappa. Even I can't guess what it will be. So make your suggestions/predictions now and we'll see who nails it. Even I don't know what the answer will be.
April 27, 200619 yr Author Here's a little more background information. A few of the cars not listed(pictured) in the sticky topic "Camino's Old rides Index". I have no pics of these: '71 Impala coupe '73 Plymouth 340 Duster '71 Plymouth Duster '68 Chevy C/10 '68 Nova sedan '70 Chevelle coupe
April 27, 200619 yr Lately I've definitely been wanting a Cobalt SS SC or a Kappa (even though they're sold out for the year already). I'd love me a Corvette, too, but they're far out of my range.
April 27, 200619 yr Author Cobalt is out, as I'll never buy a new FWD anything. Corvette is more than I'm likely to spend. But Kappa,... maybe.
April 27, 200619 yr Dodge Magnum Dodge Charger Saturn Sky Infiniti G35 (redesigned one) `70 Cuda (good luck finding one) Ford Mustang
April 27, 200619 yr Since you are only suggesting the complete opposite of what I want... I'd say a Honda Prelude would suit you find. They are great reliable cars. Same with Honda Civics. Either one is your best bet. Anything thing else? Not worth your time. Move on.
April 27, 200619 yr 240SX? If you don't mind Japanese that is... Edited April 27, 200619 yr by ToniCipriani
April 27, 200619 yr hmmm... ill guess a few... saturn sky late 80s monte carlo Lincoln Mark V Caddy Coupe Deville if you plan on waiting a bit maybe a 2009 camaro
April 28, 200619 yr i dont know what all this talk is about people who dont like cars from the 70s... i dont believe you guys that these people exist... they are clearly what we evolved from and have since become extinct
April 28, 200619 yr Author OK, let's see if I can catch up. Brandon: Yes ,please! Z: That would be pretty cool for budget fun. Dodge: I like the Magnum but the dogs won't fit- so that's out. You must have forgotten that I Hate the Charger. Infiniti? -no thanks. 70 CUDA?!! Hell yes! Mustang : I'd get torn limb from limb I do like them though. BV: TC: umm,no. Capriceman: It depends, but definitely less than a C6. 04 Monte: Yes,Yes,No,No, Oh Yes. WMJ: a definite possible maybe Northie: You've gotten to know me too well. :AH-HA_wink: WMJ V2.0: 1972 and older and you've got my attention ( with a few exceptions '73-up)
April 28, 200619 yr I think a solstice would be cool as well, what brands particulary are you lookin for?
April 28, 200619 yr Ic, i think the solstice would be the coolest, also if you dont mind a sedan GP's are pretty cool, if yah go with chevrolet, id get a monte carlo (dont know if thats fwd), or the new Avalanche if your lookin for a truck :AH-HA_wink:
April 28, 200619 yr GMT900 Silverado shortbed regular cab 2WD with factory 20" rims. Dark blue. 5.3L AFM V8. Aftermarket intake and exhaust. Tinted windows. Wait, that's what I want. So... excellent choice!
April 28, 200619 yr Buy a Solstice GXP and get a trailer to carry your stuff & the puppy. actually... forget it, buy THIS! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Vintag...1QQcmdZViewItem
April 28, 200619 yr Author Some wild sheetmetal on those boattails, the tooling must've been expensive.
April 28, 200619 yr you shoul get a sweet 1.0L 3 cylinder Geo Metro!!!!!!! how about a 66 olds toronado?????????????
April 28, 200619 yr is it that bad looks like some one needs to read how about 64 impala be different.
April 28, 200619 yr Avalanche! (Don't ask me why this was the first thing that popped into my mind...)
April 28, 200619 yr Camino: I hear you on the FWD. I'd love to buy a SS/SC with the LSD but if I can not get it without breaking the bank I should just get a nice used RWD. Actaully I'm currently on a new kick. Back when Subaru was still owned by GM I told myself I'd get a beater WRX someday. I looked it up and a 70-80K mile 2002 Impreza WRX in great shape runs about $13,000. I am still disapointed at GM selling this brand to Toyota, but hell... if I got a 2002 used I'm not giving any money to Toyota and technically when the car was bought new it was GM. Anyway, screw justifying it. It's got a pancake motor, turbo, 5-speed, rear biased AWD & still has four doors. Why not?
April 28, 200619 yr Author Avalanche! (Don't ask me why this was the first thing that popped into my mind...) I've come very close to buying an Avalanche several times, so your nomination makes sense. Now they finally look good.
April 28, 200619 yr Author is it that bad looks like some one needs to read AHHHHHHH..... Nooooo...... how about 64 impala be different. Hmm, 64 Impala SS...
April 28, 200619 yr It's gotsta be a six-fo wit' switches, yo "Hey ba-beee. D'you want to take a ride in the love machine?" *bounce* *bounce* *bounce*
April 28, 200619 yr Author I've owned dozens and dozens of cars, but here is an interesting variable. I have never owned: a Corvette or a Convertible
April 28, 200619 yr Well in that case, how about a...ummm, Corvette convertible...? A late C5 or early C6?
April 28, 200619 yr I don't hate you,BV. I just hate Honda. Meh... same damn thing. I own some Honda atvs/motorcycles and I tried to get my mom into a Honda, specifically a Prelude. Now you hate me, right?
April 28, 200619 yr Author Meh... same damn thing. I own some Honda atvs/motorcycles and I tried to get my mom into a Honda, specifically a Prelude. Now you hate me, right? Nope, I feel sorry for you. :AH-HA_wink: I own a Honda roto-tiller, but that doesn't mean I want to drive one of their cars.
April 28, 200619 yr Maybe early C3? Dunno. YES!!!!!!! listen to the C3 calling you... answer the call of the C3 Buy the C3 Drive the C3 LOVE THE C3!!!!!!
April 28, 200619 yr BV: Honda makes the best dirt bikes, some roadbikes, ATV's, Air compressors (well besides IR), power washers and generators. AND THATS ALL. There automobiles suck.
April 28, 200619 yr C3 My favorite of the vettes. if you couldnt tell... its my favorite as well... haha
April 28, 200619 yr BV: Honda makes the best dirt bikes, some roadbikes, ATV's, Air compressors (well besides IR), power washers and generators. AND THATS ALL. There automobiles suck. I'm sorry... you cannot diss Preludes, Integras, NSXs, or CRXs unless you're biased.
April 29, 200619 yr C4 ZR1? Or a late 80's C4 vert to get you through the long, hard summer and an '07 Avalanche to do everything else.
April 29, 200619 yr THE PUMA!!!.... "what you mean like a big cat?" GT500? dumptruck? gotta be a tonka hows about a porshe?
May 1, 200619 yr Author C4 ZR1? Or a late 80's C4 vert to get you through the long, hard summer and an '07 Avalanche to do everything else. This idea has merit, there's a ZR1 for sale locally w/low miles... ...and it's black!
May 1, 200619 yr This idea has merit, there's a ZR1 for sale locally w/low miles... ...and it's black! Do it! I'd like to see anyone take a spin in a ZR1 and then bash DOHC.In case you couldn't tell, I have a soft spot for the C4, I've toyed with the idea of breaking the bank and picking up a high miled, beat to hell, early C4 because they're so cheap. 210hp? Who cares, clean it up, give it a nice wax job, and cruise, its a f@#king Corvette.
May 1, 200619 yr The Corvettes with the TPI 350 were rated at 230-240hp throughout their life. The great thing about those engines also respond very well to even light modifications. You could get another 100hp without even pulling the engine. The 1984 with the cross-fire injection will probably have more colector value, but they are a real PITA to keep running smooth. The throttle-body ends up collecting this gunk inside and gradually degrades the way the car runs. Hence it's three model year existence. I'd get a C4 too if the right one came along. I like the way some of them look with the body-colored side exhaust kits.
May 1, 200619 yr How can you say no to one of these. I want one so bad. LOOK TO OLDS FOR THE NEW! And look at all the FWD cars now. With a 425 how can you go wrong? Edited May 1, 200619 yr by capriceman
May 1, 200619 yr Author C3 would be the most likely vette for me. The ZR1 will likely be gone by the time I'm ready. A friend of mine is selling a C2 though and...
