Since being exposed on a regular basis to Hyundai cars, something has come to light. The bumper covers are very thin plastic. Where the bumper cover attaches to the car there is a flange with holes that snap into a plastic bracket that is bolted to the fenders and quarter panels. The bumper cover comes to a point in that area... and an automatic car wash tends to grab hold of that point and break the bumper cover away from the car at the thin flange. It is a very common problem, I'm finding... including my cousin's Accent. I saw her over Xmas, and hers is broken. She thought she was responsible for hitting something, but I knew right away what happened.

And they cannot be fixed, because the flange is under high stress, being at the attachment point to the car, and being so thin and cheap, it cannot be permanently repaired with adhesive. So, all these bumper covers need to be replaced, an expensive car wash, indeed.

So if anyone owns a Hyundai, wash it yourself, or run it through a touchless automatic car wash, otherwise you might suffer the consequences.

An example, imo, of a company that has grown too fast. They are still not mature in some areas.
