May 11, 200619 yr June Motor Trend. they pick the Civic SI. practically gushing. BLECH> The only Non-US car I would ever buy (excluding Ford and GM nameplates, Volvo, SAAB, Jaguar, etc.) would be a VW. Never driven one, but the GTI appeals to me a LOT more! Any VW appeals to me a LOT more than ANY Japanese vehicle! VW just has a higher class vehicle. Just my opinion though.
May 11, 200619 yr I dont think the tow truck driver cares how classy your car is when your VW breaks down on the side of the highway at 4:14 am.

May 14, 200619 yr so motortrend, autoweek, automobilemag, and edmunds picked the civic http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...19006/1012/FREE http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedan...erformance.html http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...25/pageId=69489 consumer reports, R&T, and C&D picked the GTI http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?se...0&page_number=6 http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10...swagen-gti.html
May 14, 200619 yr So opinions vary. As far as looks and interior design goes I would probably pick the GTI. But VeeDubs aren't exactly reliable, plus the Si is lighter. So it can go either way. SRT-4 for me please. Edit: Looks like TCC picked the GTI over the Si http://www.thecarconnection.com/Vehicle_Re...184.A10394.html Edited May 14, 200619 yr by Dodgefan
May 15, 200619 yr Author scratch edmunds off the list, they are a bunch of hacks with no cred. motor trend is off the list because their editorial team is overpopulated with pimple faced hacks now take away consumer reports too, they know how to judge toasters but no so much cars. so motortrend, autoweek, automobilemag, and edmunds picked the civic http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...19006/1012/FREE http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedan...erformance.html http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...25/pageId=69489 consumer reports, R&T, and C&D picked the GTI http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?se...0&page_number=6 http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10...swagen-gti.html
May 15, 200619 yr I'd take the GTi. It's got European refinement (regardless of reliability) and comes free of a ghastly interior unlike the Civic.
