MAY 2014 CAR SPOTTERS THREAD HERE!

Featured Replies

April is done... weather's warming up. Time to break out the sunglasses and spot some hot stuff! Post it here, your cool, or just unusual, vehicle spots.

Saw a white Aston Martin Rapide in an airport parking garage last night...next row over from it was a very strange '05-10 Chrysler 300--done in matte black w/ large black wheels, and a giant blower thingy w/ 2 carbs and a scoop sticking through a hole in the hood. I don't know if the blower/etc was fake, seemed out of place on a modern car.

Stopped at Ikea tonight on the way home, still daylight. This about scared me away, itself.

The person driving parked similarly timed to me...and was abnormally young, at least for something like this. Interesting stuff.

Nasty... haven't seen a CTS coupe w/ a top like that, though I saw a CTS-v sedan w/ one a while back.

'68-70 Chevy C10 shortbed, red, very clean, parked.

'56 Chevy Nomad, blue, looked original but unrestored, owner tinkering under the dash in the driveway.

The roofless carcass of a '34 Olds for sale in a driveway, half under a tarp.

'67-esque Ranchero, green, nice clean shape, parked in driveway.

'73 Riviera, pale yellow, very clean unrestored, burned the tires pulling out into the main street right in front of me.

And also, this was circling overhead further along my trip. I don't think POTUS was on board. They flew veerry low multiple times without the gear down. I'm guessing it was for training as there is an airforce base nearby.

^ That's not a 1974 Dodge sedan...

First gen, nice condition, Neon...coupe. Been a very, very long time since I've ever seen one of these. Purple with 2nd gen Neon aluminum wheels on it. Showed a bit of pride in ownership, some faded paint aside.

Cool little cars, back in the day, rough and all.

Went 'Sunday lot shopping' in Mercer County (Lawrenceville, NJ) to Coleman Buick-GMC and Princeton Chevrolet. At the Buick-GMC dealership, spotted:

Over at the Chevy lot, spotted a Rainforest Green 2014 Silverao (late model year color addition; check out the Chevy Trucks thread to see pics) and my first 3500 Dually Crew Cab spotting:

'72 Monte Carlo, dark green, clean, up on the lift with the rear open.

'56 T-bird, black, nice, parked.

62-64 Studebaker GT Hawk, red w/ gold roof, decent, parked on street.

I love that era of hawk.

Black Tesla Model S

Gray Jaguar XF-R parked in my alleyway

I have seen a bunch of Teslas here in Columbus Ohio.

This is so over the top I actually like it.

Been quite awhile since I have seen a 56 Nomad...!

There is a dark gray late model Aston Martin V8 Vantage parked in my next door neighbor's driveway today.

I talked with the owner of an Aston martin in front of the Rusty Bucket tavern in Bexley the other day.

Another Nomad today!

'55, white with red scallops, chrome wheels, very nice shape, rolling.

'62-65 Nova 2-dr hardtop, blue, stock down to spinner hubcaps, very clean.

Black '66 Malibu SS convertible, rumbling, looking hot. Early-mid-'30s Chevy coupe with occupied rumble seat. Silver XLR, haven't seen one in a while.

Went out with my wife to dinner, took her out for mothers day. Parked between a sweetly detailed C5Z06 dark blue, and a black 500 Abarth Fiat. Had a huge rain storm coming home, followed black C4 through one hellmof a storm back to our subdivision.

I really would not mind a Corvette... And I have this silly thing for C4 VETTS....

New Nissan Leaf that had a new tag in the window, just bought. Was laughing as the person was complaining to another person that there were no electric only premium spots for him to park in at the park and ride. Amazing how entitled the tree huggers are that buy pure Electric auto's.

Amazing indeed.....let's see what happens when the $7500 tax credit runs out on these.

A pristine 84-85 Eldorado convertible. White with red leather interior rolling on beside me outside of DC today

i always did like the look of those. A nice CJ 7 raised on 33" Tires, looked great....

85 Monte Carlo SS Maroon. Man I loved these cars, even better if it was an Areo model. :D

They always looked good in Blue I thought.

'48-50 Ford F-1, dark blue, cheapie chrome wheels, chopped about 3 inches, nice shape, in the Home Depot lot.

Taht was always a great Era of Ford Truck. I saw a 56 Ford not that long ago, someones running project, looked solid and like they were making progres.

I am a tanker (and tender, in fire-dept speak) fan... I saw this tanker trailer on my way home from work yesterday and it's the first time I've ever seen this type tanker trailer:

tanker1_zps5cf198b1.jpg

tanker2_zpse20566e0.jpg

Is anyone familiar with this type of trailer? If yes, does it serve a specialized purpose? I see "Sunoco Race Fuels" on the side; is this the type of trailer used specifically at race tracks? At first I thought it was military-spec since I live near Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst (and the color is very Air Force-like). Just curious if this type of trailer is more common in other areas.

Right after I posted that red VW bus for ocnblu in the car pic thread, I saw a green and white VW bus aircooled.

Speaking of buses, I saw a slammed baby blue and white VW doublecab pickup w/ one of those vintage side window swamp coolers in traffic tonight..sweet. And saw 3 XLRs today in traffic--a silver one, a black XLR-v, and a dark blue one.

I was behind a '67-'72 F250 Camper Special last night, with a form-fitting, painted diamond plate bumper. White top, brown down the sides, and white on the bottom. It was clean as a whistle. Speaking of whistles, I kept hearing a distinct whistle from the old hauler as he went up hills... I wonder what he had in that thing?

Baby Powder BLue 1975 Chevy Luv. It needed some love with all the scares on the body, but was still kicking.

Black Nissan GTR on the way to my VWTDI car club meeting last night, also several C 7 corvettes. Saw a car carrier load of C7 vetted headed east on I 279.

'63 Impala 2-dr hardtop, white over yellow, minty, parked

'67 Nova 2-dr hardtop, deep red, howling down back country road

'68 Ford Torino 2-dr fastback, dark blue I think, burbling down back road.

68 was a good year for Torino, they paced Indy with a Torino ragtop that year.

Pace cars are a neat historical footnote, but the positions are bought as opposed to 'earned'. Maybe at some point way back this was not the case.
