Nissan let their engineers loose to build a 21st century electric pickup truck. Sparky or as some have stated, a modern day compact ElCamino.

This is the Modern day version of what City Dwellers who rarely drive their trucks or cars far but need something to haul stuff around for the yard would want possibly.

Plenty of pictures of this electric compact pickup truck can be found on the search engines.

The creation of this is from blending a Nissan leaf with a Frontier so that the Engineers had an electric truck around the shop. Full story here from Nissan Global.

Since I originally posted this, Nissan has now stated that they are looking as a pickup truck version like Sparky as interest from city dwellers has gotten stronger.

It would seem that with generation 2 of the Nissan Leaf coming and a 200+ mile range, people who live in the city and city governments that need maintenance trucks for work around the parks, city, etc. has grown the interest in this little Electric FWD pickup truck.

With the BOLT and Ioniq out this fall, Leaf 2.0 out next year and many other EV auto's on the drawing board, who will be the first to have a mini EV pickup truck out to the public?

What is your thoughts on this, is this a valid market to create one for or is it too early?
