May 3, 200619 yr It's short, it's skinny, and it gets the equivalent of 108 miles per gallon. It's the Clever vehicle, a prototype from a conglomeration of European groups, including automaker BMW. Unveiled in Britain on Monday, Clever--short for compact low-emission vehicle for urban transport--is designed to combine the features of a micro car and a motorbike. Just over three feet wide, the Clever seats two, with the passenger directly behind the driver. Check it out, it's cool! http://sympatico-msn-ca.com.com/2300-11389...tml?tag=ca_home Edited May 3, 200619 yr by Cremazie
May 3, 200619 yr It truly kicks the Smarts ass.. Something that people actually want! Even reg likes it!
May 3, 200619 yr Author To make it even better, it's a BMW. They build cars, they build bikes.. I guess they finally put two of them together.
May 3, 200619 yr Is that supposed to be a car? Only tree huggers or people having a problem with parllel parking would drive it!
May 3, 200619 yr Is that supposed to be a car? Only tree huggers or people having a problem with parllel parking would drive it! Apparently, since a bunch of epeople already said they like it on this forum, and we're anything but tree huggers, more than just the people you mentioned would buy it. It's fast and it's nimble, and it gets good gas. I'd make a great commuter vehicle. Seriously, it's just plain cool.
May 3, 200619 yr Even cooler. 0-60 in 6.8 @ 140mpg. Oh yeah, its made by GM, Oh yeah, in 1983. Oh yeah, it also maybe could've flown...
May 3, 200619 yr If I could park in motorcycle parking spots (no university parking permit required) then I would snag one up in a heartbeat. I wonder if I got a Smart and promised to only take up half a parking spot if I could pay only half the parking cost. Edited May 3, 200619 yr by Satty

May 3, 200619 yr Clever--short for compact low-emission vehicle for urban transport Wouldn't that be CLEVUT? Cool car, nonetheless. First thing it reminded me of was the Pulse: I wonder what kind of amenities (AC, a decent radio, etc) it comes with. -RBB
May 3, 200619 yr I saw one of those Pulse things on the back of a flatbed in Boston in the late 1980s. I thought for years it was a custom one-off. This thing is kind of neat but Europe can keep them as far as I care. If they find enough of a market here for them it would be a more prectical personal transport than a lot of older ideas, incl. the Prius. Edited May 3, 200619 yr by Sixty8panther
May 4, 200619 yr I like the idea of a motorcycle-like vehicle with a cabin to make it practical year-round. Safety is the only concern I can really think of - if an area could be regulated to have vehicles of only a certain size (excluding semi's and large trucks, etc), it would be safer. Then again, motorcycles are allowed on the road with everyone else. It's an interesting contradiction - cars are required to have airbags, all kinds of impact protection measures, etc, etc. Then there's motorcycles where there is relatively little protection. Motorcycles require a special license, thoughk, right? What if these vehicles could be classified as motorcycles, or have their own classification? Would they be able to be used on regular roads? (or are they already?)
May 4, 200619 yr If I owned one of those I'd be afraid that someone would literally walk away with it.
