April 6, 201510 yr Imagine a world where there isn't hearses and limousines wearing the Cadillac badge. According to GM Inside News, that will be happening when production of the XTS ends in 2019. Johan de Nysschen, head of Cadillac revealed that when the lifecycle of the XTS ends, there will be no replacement. This is due to the brand realigning their product lineup to better compete with the German automakers. With the upcoming loss of the XTS, this will also signal the end of Cadillac's livery business. "We will not have a car that will lend itself to these kind of modifications and we will probably withdrawal from those markets," said de Nysschen. April 6, 201510 yr Well I disagree with Johan... unless there is something super special about the Omega platform, I'm betting the CT6 would make a great limo
April 6, 201510 yr I bet the CT6 2.0T is there for the livery market. The car is big and they can keep the cost down with the 4-cylinder base model. Really this should be Buick LaCrosse or Park Ave market and Cadillac should leave it, but I doubt they do.
April 6, 201510 yr I suspect with the Omega the weight savings program has made the cars structure as a whole important for strength. Now you go cutting and lengthen it out it could lose it cage structure that helps save the weight and leave you with a very unstable car. Just look at some of the older limo's as it is and many sag with time as it is. I would not be surprised if GM may not recommend the Omega just for this reason.
April 6, 201510 yr I doubt GM would loose the Presidents Cadillac due to stupid thinking like this. I bet that the CT6 or Escalade like Drew states can be used but they do not want to advertise it yet. I expect this business to continue.
April 7, 201510 yr I've never seen an XTS limo or hearse except in an Autoblog article and here. Never seen any IRL...must be low volume or regional.
April 7, 201510 yr Well, if Lincoln wants the business, then they have the new Continental concept. I agree with the consensus, the CT platform (or some other Cadillac) will take over this market.

I bet that the CT6 or Escalade like Drew states can be used but they do not want to advertise it yet. I expect this business to continue. Limo 1 is a custom build on a Chevrolet Top-Kick industrial truck. It is Cadillac in some certain visual cues only. It has zero relation to anything in the Cadillac portfolio beyond the badge. I've never seen an XTS limo or hearse except in an Autoblog article and here. Never seen any IRL...must be low volume or regional. I've seen both in person.
April 7, 201510 yr I've seen one XTS hearse on a car carrier with two other non-Cadillac hearses being transported. No XTS limo's yet, but I have seen XTS sedans being used as service cars at my work (more Lincolns over Caddy's). The limo in the pic above looks like an arch with the shape of the car. I saw other pics on Google Images and they too look like an arch. Very strange look, IMHO. By the way, the wife and I are fans of the XTS Sedan
April 7, 201510 yr I am a fan of the XTS and I find many others who like it as well. So I think it works. Here in Seattle I have seen a black and a white Cadillac Hearse based on the XTS. I have also seen a couple limo's and will snap a pic next time I am out at the airport as they seem to be there all the time for private car service.
April 7, 201510 yr I'm actually surprised the XTS is going to last until 2019. They must have a mid-cycle re-do planned in there somewhere.
April 7, 201510 yr Author I'm actually surprised the XTS is going to last until 2019. They must have a mid-cycle re-do planned in there somewhere. Yeah, I would expect it either this or next year.
April 7, 201510 yr Or they will do like the 2nd gen DTS and previous Impala...basically 6 year runs w/ little or no change.
April 7, 201510 yr Or they will do like the 2nd gen DTS and previous Impala...basically 6 year runs w/ little or no change. No... I think they are planning on keeping it at least up to date.
April 16, 201510 yr Buick LaCrosse could be a livery vehicle. They could make a hearse out of that, and it would be cheaper for funeral homes, and I doubt people are going to complain on what type of car it is.
April 17, 201510 yr That stretch hearse above could also be made into a pretty good-looking double cab ute.
April 17, 201510 yr That stretch hearse above could also be made into a pretty good-looking double cab ute. Or a modern spin on a Fleetwood 75 style limo...
April 24, 201510 yr All of those cars are beautiful. It is too bad that they will no longer be available. Well we shall see what will happen next.
April 24, 201510 yr I'd like to see an XTS limo, but a small stretch.. CNG XTS Limo Fleet for all of the MGM Resorts world wide.
