I was reading that the Tesla can go a little over 300 miles on a single charge. I looked at the Tesla map for charging stations in the DFW area in Texas and there are not as many as I would like to see. I did see that you can purchase a portable charger. I wanted to know if people have experience using that.

In our Alternative Fuel section we have covered two stories on this.

Check out the discussions there.

Personally living in Seattle, we have plenty of superfast charging stations and of course the state will pay for a home charging unit. You still have either 30 min wait for the 440 chargers in a few locations, about 4hr if a 220 charging unit or about 8-12hrs for the 110 charging units. Most Tesla drivers seem to get about 200-240 miles per charge. Keep in mind the battery range is heavily affected by what you use in the auto. AC, all the various electronics, etc. Your range will vary based on electronic usage but over all a solid auto that if you can afford it then go for it and enjoy. :)

I saw a Tesla charging station last weekend in Winslow, AZ at a hotel..
